dont understand why this fight is look apound so greatly, it was just other day at the office, Sure Mauriello may have stagger Louis, but he was in over his head in this fight.
That was a very nice watch. Great voice for narrative purposes. As for disagreeing, i could only nitpick that it was a short left hook and not a haymaking punch. Joe Louis was the closest thing to a human punching machine that i've ever seen, at heavyweight. What a man, what a fighter.
It's a great video. Great photo too. I think Tami Mauriello gets overlooked as a very worthy challenger for Joe Louis.
I think the commentary is rather over the top to be honest, "look at his shoe laces", Mauriello staggered Louis but then walked into a left hook.I beleive he had one leg a trifle shorter than the other ,not positive about this ,but think so. Tami caused a stir ,when at the post fight interview he blurted out on air," I had him ,but I got too goddamn careless "!
That was a great video. I loved how he pointed out the audience member, the shoelace, and the fact that mauriello was off the ground!
Tami Mauriello was a hell of a fighter in the 1940s...I saw Tami fight Lee Savold, Lee Oma, and Joe Baksi at MSG...Every fight was a thriller..It's true Mauriello had one foot shorter than the other..As a result he seldom took a backstep,so he just waded in,full throttle...His nemesis was the tough Gus Lesnevich who beat Mauriello four times...If Mauriello stayed at middleweight he would have been champ,so good was he at 160 lbs...Tami kod his Bronx rival Steve Belloise,a great puncher at 160 lbs...
