Anyway blackwell was getting caught a lot, a big puncher would stop him. His chin is decent but only a matter of time.

It was a good win though. He is a worthy british champ.

Yea he did get caught a lot, I think he wasn't that bothered because he could just walk him down, started slow though again, a bit like a middleweight version of Froch.

Jones is a handy little fighter, reminded me of Matthews VS Coyle, just a great knockout really but Blackwell didn't really perform that well. He is very much like Derry Matthews, relies alot on his power but will be easily outboxed like what BJS and Martin Murray did to him.
Still think him vs Eubank Jnr will be a good s****, as neither fighter will decide to get behind the jab, he'll probably get blasted by an uppercut down the middle by Eubank Jnr but will drag him into a war beforehand.

Nah Blackwell could beat a big puncher he's a very good brawler, he showed that against Khomitsky, look at his defeats to boxers, (he beat Bursak IMO)

Yeh he's a good brawler, but a decent boxer with good power could stop him. But blackwell won't be facing a quillin, lee or ggg.
It's likely he won't get stopped fighting the European level and fringe world level fighters he will continue to fight and defending his british belt he will be in some decent competitive fights!

Still a young lad also, loads of room to improve, got a good jab when he doesn't neglect it.

He's never in boring fights at least - I guess Ryder will want that rematch soon once he has a tune up.

To be fair when Murray beat him he was a 7 or 8 fight novice with no experience in the ams at all.... That loss counts for nothing what so ever.

And with regards to the BJS fight, well billy has gone on to do alright for himself hasn't he - and again was infinitely more expierenced boxer (Olympics etc) so no shame what so ever there..
Just look at how Nick handled Khomitsky and Khomitsky dispatched Etches & Buglioni

Exactly what I am saying, he's lost to GOOD boxers - infact World Class boxers.
But if I was his handlers I'd give him a chance against punchers/brawlers as Blackwell has excellent power - and a very good chin.
But if he's in against solid fighters who are at world level who can stick and move behind a jab and can just dance around him for 12 rounds then he'll struggle as you saw for the first few rounds against Jones, until his power told.

Would you say blackwell has excellent power? He can certainly punch but I wouldn't say he had excellent power.

I think it's developed and come on alot, his timing is ALOT better than when he started out, he'll be scoring a few highlight reel KO's like in his last two fights.

Nah I would never rate him as a power puncher, more of a work horse - grind out results, granted his last two have been stoppage wins but still.... Plus with the Lockett man there he will be learning lots.

Next I'd have him in with Patrick Mendy then either Tom Doran ( prize fighter winner at middle) or Adam Etches, then he's got the belt outright. He's got a long time before he's world level , let him fight the likes of those mentioned, maybe Cello Renda, basically let him have it his way for a while rather than rushing him on...

Yea I agree Silent_Service, no need to rush him, can get a few good fights defending the Lonsdale until he has it outright, would like to see him pickup the Euro title also.
