Blackwell was chucked in with Martin Murray in his 9th fight for the british title when he was 20 years old.

the he fights again for the british title against Billy Joe saunders in his 13 th fight aged 22.

Then still 22...in his 15th fight he takes a fight on really short notice ( a few days I think) to fight who was the current European Champion Max Bursak in Ukraine.

Finally he gets a promotional deal with a top promoter that his talent deserves.. he signs with Hennessy and you think he would start to be promoted/managed properly but...... He gets put in with Sergey Khomitsky at short notice in a 6 rounder!

In his second fight with Hennessy he had to give a lot of weight to the massive light heavyweight Nathan King. And now hes getting chucked in with the very talented John Ryder. All this and he's still on 24 and had only 19 fights.

I just personally feel he has a lot of talent.. and he has the looks also to be potentially a star if he was brought on a bit more slowly. I'd like to see him fight regularly and be brought on like a prospect and be fighting guys like Patrick Mendy.

well made points but I do think he has a good chance of beating Ryder!

i suppose it all comes down to wether he can sell tickets. it looks like he cant but then it could also be that he needs to fight to make a living and needs to take these fights. either way its been good experience for him bar the murray fight.

though his record won't show it, I think he's got some decent experience for a 24 year old. If you compare him to say an etches who has beaten 15 bums then got done by khomisky and is a similar age I'd prefer blackwells route.

if you look at it another way he's had 19 fights now, if he can't beat ryder who's decent, but no world beater imo. Then he's not going to make it, regardless of whats gone on in his career prior to this.
