Blackwell is very underrated, he was always touted as a decent prospect before the Murray fight, that one came to soon for him and IIRC it was at 3 weeks notice, people have to remember he was a 20 year old kid with only 8 fights and no amateur experience, also was the English champion at 19.

18 months later and he has clearly improved into a good domestic level fighter with scope for further improvement, don't be surprised if this kid goes onto do good things, he's a real warrior is this lad.

Look forward to seeing him in the ring next year, thoughts guys?

Looked like a fighter concerned with the distance. He started too late, I wonder if he didn't wake up this morning kicking himself having missed a massive opportunity. He seemed able to catch BJS's attention to the body so power wasn't an issue, and he got into range enough despite what the commentators were saying. He needed to put more work in, and looked strong in the last round...so go figure.

Yeah, it's a strange one as he's done 10 rounds once before.

I think his plan was to weather the early storm as Billy Joe tends to start fast and come on strong in the second half of the fight, like you say he's missed a massive opportunity, certainly had a lot more in the engine at the final bell.

He acquitted himself well though, great learning fight for the lad.

The Nicky Blackwell I once saw was a quite slick, economic fighter, don't know who that pressure fighter was
