Congrats that man, third time lucky? Brilliant and i like ryder.

 

I would like to see the Ryder rematch to be honest, I thought the stoppage was poor, there have been worse, but Ryder looked different class to him for most of that and a rematch would be well deserved for both guys. Credit to Blackwell, I hope people don't give him stick for a poor stoppage.

 

I predicted a ryder stoppage But fair play to him can see why eubank jr didn't want it.

 

No disrespect mate but don't agree with that at all. Ryder is an awkward southpaw and to be fair the first couple of rounds he looked the better fighter. But Blackwell is supremely conditioned and was cut above his eye and bloodied from the nose in the first. Not a great start.

From the third onwards Blackwell was coming into it. The good work that Ryder was producing in the first two was turning into holding and punching from in close. Blackwell was coming up with the cleaner work. You could tell he was hurting Ryder and the stoppage itself has probably given Ryder excuses, when in fact he would have been brutally stopped in that round or later on. Blackwell, gets stronger not weaker.

That might appear a 'poor' stoppage. But if we're honest it was more than just a 'bad round' for Ryder--- > that was a watershed round. Could Ryder have survived the round, possibly.
Could he have gone on to win the fight --- I say 'no'.
With Blackwells engine toughness fitness and hunger, the next round would have been more of the same..and the next ...and the next. Only one winner.:bbb
Who would win a rematch....I know who I would pick anyway.

 

Ryder rematch would be most likely if Mick stumps up the cash, I suspect Ryder will be dropped by Hearn soon.

I doubt Blackwell fights Eubank anytime soon despite what Mick says.

 

how can you possibly say the stoppage was poor? Johns hands were down he wasn't punching back and more importantly he never complained in any way
Really good fight but I'd say British level is johns level now

 

some people are never happy..its not enough that the boxer is out on his feet taking dozens of un answered punches to the brain they need to see them on the floor....

on a similar subject i thought Mitchell should have been taken straight to hospital rather than hang around ring for announcements etc..he looked in a really bad way

 

Steady on there Billy about 'British level' - its not THAT grim for Ryder.
Look at how competitive he was with BJS.
Pushed him closer on points than Blackwell did.
Also he gave Nick fits - gave him by far his toughest fight last night. At first nick couldnt cope with him at all - better than Khomitsky, Bursak etc...for the first few rounds.

I agree with a lot of what you say mate but let's have it right, Ryder was the better fighter for two rounds. After that point Blackwell at least had a share of the next four if not more. Blackwell was probably struggling to figure out his style more than anything else given he is a southpaw and it's awkward crouchyness. Blackwell is almost certainly a slow starter as well, given he gave the first few rounds up against Khomitsky.

I actually created another thread on the matter as I thought the sky team were awful last night (Smith and Pauli). Pauli kept mentioning talent as if Ryder was on a different planet. For me, from the third onwards Blackwell was hitting him with the cleaner and better technical work as well as finding the home for the jab. Yet the commentary team were saying that Blackwell was getting punches home despite Ryder's superiorty. The stoppage almost gave Pauli an excuse to defend his awful calling of the fight as he clearly had no idea what was going on it there.

Blackwell won the fight because he was the better boxer. It had little to do with conditioning. Although, had the fight gone further then stamina would have been more a factor and Ryder in even deeper.
