Cracking insight into this brain injury - can you shed some light on my PPV hatred?

 

I agree with you and Nick was doing the only thing he knew He was probably never going to do anything else anyway as he got his trainers licence . The responsibility lies with those that let him spar .

 

No it doesn't.

Like you said he had his trainer's licence and had the option of being involved in boxing by becoming a coach.

The sparring partner never coerced or invited Nick to ''come on over'' for a bit of sparring for ''old times' sake. Nick took it upon himself to go to a gym and demand a sparring session as he had told them he was given the all clear knowing full well the doctors had advised him in no uncertain terms that he was susceptible to brain bleed and to never box again.

The responsibility lays solely with Nick I'm afraid and arguable the coach who allowed him to spar since I believe he knew who he was but the sparring partner didn't.

 

I don't think his trainer (Gary Lockett) was present at the time of the spar. If he was, I'm sure he would have put a stop to it.

Its very sad what happened to Nick, but the fact is he was stupid to think he could spar after the doctors told him not to. He is a grown adult who made a stupid decision, which we all do sometimes. Unfortunately his cost him dearly.

 

That is cold.

The poor guy can most probably just about wipe his own bum, let alone think about exercising and keeping a tab of his diet.

 

He does have a minder but I think all that time in the hospital bed ridden has piled on the pounds

I agree though he should have access to better nutrition. Looks like they have been feeding him anything and everything.

 

The situation is quite simple really.
Many a fighter have suffered injuries, and had the sense not to even attempt to get in the ring ever again, i don't agree with your point on being the judgement being impaired, it is called common sense and not lets lay the blame at somebody elses door when things go wrong.

As sad a situation as it is for Nick, you have to look at the position he put others in by doing what he did, they may not have liked it but they could have said no or simply refuse to take part in it knowing what had just happened to him.

I fully understand a fighters instinct to go from doing something that you love and are passionate about doing it only to have it cut short, i understand the urge he probably had because he missed it so much.

But when you are injured in that way and your life is basically saved by the good people that looked after him, it showed a total lack of ignorance and a little insulting to those that cared for him the first time for him to do what he did.
He would have been told in no uncertain terms that he risked serious injury if he were to participate further, he would have known the risks and he chose to do what he did, sadly as you would expect it went tragically wrong for him and the fantastic people that nursed him through the first were put in a position to go through it again, and that should never happen.
I may sound brutal and i am not but what he did was selfish to put people through it all a second time when it wasn't necessary.
He is very lucky he is alive, some fighters are not so...
He was given a second chance at life and dismissed it.
Very sad all round.

 

Nah, just to reassure you Jurgen you are acting in a completely normal manner regarding PPVs.

I think, but if you are ever diagnosed with any condition regarding it let me know who your specialist is as i may need to see him!!

It wasn't your fault. You were concussed and didn't understand what you were doing.

Someone should have been there to stop you and help you put your credit card back inside your wallet to prevent you from getting ripped off.
