Was just thinking about the up and coming Ryder vs Blackwell fight and the fact that someone posted about how Nick blackwell doesn't get the credit he deserves on this forum which leads us to the question of which is Nick blackwells best win? Not loss or draw His best win? Your thoughts and explanations please gentlemen
All of his wins have been 'ordinary', really, insofar as the pattern of his career has been: Taxidriver-Roadsweeper-binman-CHAMPION-bouncer-binman-barman-CHAMP etc etc He really has 'learned-by-doing' literally on the job. Recently he has filled out physically, and developed a very powerful jab, two welcome additions to his ****nal. A win over Ryder would be impressive. He was on his way to stopping Khomitky which is very impressive too.
Winning english title in 7th fight v harry matthews 10-1 0r conception. He gets credit for the fights his taken wen others didn't want it and the performances his put in those fights
Think he has taken the short notice, away from home fights Blackwell has imo got the short end on several cards, nothing clear cut but up for debate. He has had the preparation time for the Ryder fight but for me will come up short in what should be a good fight. Big fight for both fighters I just see it 60-40 Ryder and he will edge it....not by much!
Didn't he get robbed in that European title fight? Khomitsky fight is looking better now too of course!
Both fights he could well of had his hand raised...... Away from home you get given nothing. The Khomitsky fight totally bizarre for me being a 6 round fight :huh
The Khomitsky fight showed how improved he has become as a boxer. Even though he lost on points he seemed to be taken charge of the fight after the 5th round. I would even go as far as to say he may have stopped Khomitsky had the fight been scheduled for 10/12 rounds. Now consider what Khomitsky did to Buglioni and Ecthes and i think hes a future European champ at best!
2x cards a draw and Blackwell winning on the third so a majority draw. Blackwell was certainly getting on top but like I posted earlier being a 6 round fight seemed very strange.
Think it may of been me that posted this... And I think he's massively under valued in the sport. Not for his "wins" as such, more for the fights he's taken at very short notice, in the "away" corner & Ill prepared. I remember a few years ago, Martin Murray couldn't find ANYONE at middle to contest the Lonsdale belt, up steps Nick, at only his 8th fight or something daft. Gave a good account of himself, was only young - maybe 20 at the time, spoke volumes to me. Thought he'd be straight back & get a few wins under his belt then win titles. Seems to of been done over by his advisors / management though. All things considered, I rate him higher than the likes of Etches , Spike, Ryder & Ogogo. Though not on the BJS / Eubank level. & he never boxed a single round as an amateur!
He's a hell of a tough kid for somebody who looks like they could be a cast member of TOWIE His best win would IMO be Bursak where he was robbed
