Yea maybe, but Buffer's 1st time was not on HBO mainstage. That fuk should have had the chance to practice several times at local fights off of TV.

  3. This was among many cringe-inducing moments. He was god awful.

You guys are very critical of a ring announcer. Are you just used to Buffers voice or Jimmy Lennom Jr or whatever his name is. Cannon wasn't what you're supposed to watch boxing for. I know you all don't watch fights just to see Buffer.

They could have picked a random guy from a bar and he would have done a better job

That's what happens when you start from scratch. Maybe he could be okay, but that job is a lot harder than it sounds. I remember Michael Buffer doing "Man your battlestations!" on ESPN. But he learned and became the greatest.

Experience is important, and HBO ****ed up big-time on that one.

Seriously did he not even practice at least!? It was honestly like he got the job that evening or something and was just tossed the cue cards

I hear you, but a great announcer can make a memorable night all the more memorable. Compare Nick Cannon last night with prime Buffer:
