Nick Diaz done with MMA has signed to fight Fernando Vargas!!!

At the same time, I think Mayorga showed in his fight with Cotto, that he's clearly NOT done.

I thought he did very well, except that Cotto's superior skills carried the day.

 

He looked better against Cotto than he did against Vargas, though.

Both of them looked sluggish at 170 or whatever that catchweight was.

 

I agree....All I'm saying is from a boxing standpoint....Mayorga is considered raw as hell. No real technique...just a wildman swinging and winging his way to a KO. Like I said...he knows how to fight even if his technique is lacking. It's about styles...and that's why I know Diaz could have a decent career in boxing if he doesn't rush things. Takes his time with getting acclimated to the sweet science and then step up.

 

I disagree, I think even the Mayorga version of Vargas has enough left to destroy Díaz.

 

But even though he may look raw, the punches that he throws are utilized to take advantage of boxers that use a certain guard. It's why his right hand over the top can be very effective against guys like Cotto (when it lands) and Forrest, but against a guy like De La Hoya or Trinidad (although for different reasons), it didn't work very well at all.

You say Diaz will be successful, but at what weightclass?

Honestly, from a glimpse of the style that he shows in MMA, which will be adjusted to a certain extent, but the fundamentals will likely be the same, I don't see how he can compete at 168.

And Pavlik would MURDERIZE him at 160. Same with Martinez, but it may not be a potential KO of the YEAR like it would be against Pavlik.

Even lesser guys like Dzinziruk would easily school him. Vargas right now is an enigma, but in the last edition of the RING he was talking about a comeback and is currently said to be training hard with Mayweather Sr.

 

Honestly, I'm not really a big fan of Vargas anyway from a technical standpoint or really at all.

He deserved that ass whuppin by DLH and on top of that he was on steriods.

So, he's an enigma, but apparently he's training with Mayweather Sr, but at 33 or 34, he's likely to old to make any kind of transition.

 

Good point.....he'll have to fight at 168, maybe 160. He can't beat the top 5...maybe not even the top 10 right out the gate, but he could take to the sweet sceicne and surprise everyone. All I'm saying about this situation is this ain't some regular joe looking to all the sudden become a pro boxer. He's already a professional athlete who excels in his sport which is also a combat sport like boxing. He's got some work to do but I think he has a decent foundation to give him a good start.

So sick of this crossover sport talk. Diaz would get clubbed like most boxers would get clubbed in MMA, two different things. If he didn't like the work in MMA, he sure as hell won't like it in boxing, if its true he can only box once a year under his MMA contract, then WTF? Good luck improving that way.

 

Funny thing I just heard Omar Henry is leaving boxing for now and fighting MMA. They switching places I guess

 

it would be a fun fight to see him fight Martinez, Floyd or Mayorga

 

total BS. but some way I can understand him. the tv cannels, dana, the fertittia brother, everybody does a whole lot of money, but not the mma-fighters. only very limited amount of superstars like lesnar or gsp make good money. hell, even p4p king anderson silva doesnt make good money in the ufc, like 250 k a fight. can you imagine a boxing p4p king like sugar ray leonard or today manny pacquiao fighting for 250 k a fight, damn they about 250 k a second in a big fight hahaha....

but what is nick going to do, get his ass kicked by sebastian sylvester or felix sturm. I mean, the middleweight division is by far not the best division in boxing, but even daniel jacobs would whup diaz in like 1-3 rounds.

remember, the best mma fighter a. silva tried boxing and lost in his first or second fight vs a nobody and if you dont believe me check it out on boxrec.

 

Look at the wear and tear on his face. That is why he quit MMA.

 

I like Diaz but he would get raped by Martinez. Brutally.

 

Vargas confirmed that he was never contacted about fighting Nick Diaz... so it's crap just like when other mma fighters say they're going to boxing
