Anderson Silva called out Roy Jones Jr. to but didnt get to fight cuz of some bull**** story made up by dana white
Well Anderson signed that ''bull**** story'', and in legal terms it's called a contract. Would have liked to see the fight though
How is "he's under contract to me and I'm not letting him box" a bull**** story? I don't get this idea that somehow Couture should let Toney get his win back by agreeing to box him. Couture has never claimed he would beat Toney in a boxing match or that his wrestling skills would translate into the sweet science. It was Toney who went round lobbying White for the chance to prove that his boxing would translate inside the Octagon. And that really is the difference in the mentality between the two fanbases. There are plenty of MMA fans with a negative view of boxing but I can't think I've read anybody who believes that a fighter could go into boxing and thrive without significantly altering their game. There is a sizeable number of boxing fans that have repeatedly fallen into the trap of believing that just being able to box is enough to win a MMA fight. I mean compare the reaction to Diaz floating the possibility of a boxing fight to Toney fighting at UFC 118. Diaz's move has been greeted with scepticism by most MMA fans despite him being a champion in the peak of his career. Whereas this very website dismissed the idea that an old, washed up Toney would tap if cut in a submission hold.
Beat me to it this time Stoo And I dunno - I never really have any interest in seeing fighters going over to boxing. What's so cool about seeing them do less than they do in MMA? If I'm watching Silva I want to see his knees, elbows, ground game. Why would I pay to see him do less?
We should start charging him for the free schooling. Bet he doesnt get this much of an education at Sherdog I really hate this boxing v MMA business myself, and it's simple boxer wins at boxing, MMA fighter wins at MMA. But two ATG's going up against each other Id just be kidding myself if I said I would have no interest. But we'll never know and I wont lose any sleep over it
Unlike Toney, Couture was realistic. Toney didn't even try and had no problem embarassing himself and boxing for an easy 500k. Couture has more class than that.
Couture send an e-mail to the UFC president Dana White wanting Toney for him.As I see, its cowardly for his part to not take a second fight in boxing rules. But he is clever because he loves his life xD
it would have been a good fight i reckon and dana white could have made money on it to if he played it smart but didnt
Anderson's boxing is on another level when compared to Diaz', and his athleticism would give his more of a chance, but I don't think he would fare well against anything resembling a world class boxer. I'm talking about fighting in a boxing match, of course.
