Nick Diaz wants Anderson Silva

As you said Silva destroys people might as well make it enjoyable

 

I like Diaz , its very hard not too , he's absolutely brilliant

But what he doesn't seem to understand is that modern MMA is a structured sport , its structured in a very similar way to boxing without the politics , super fights happen too rarely in the UFC anyway but why Diaz believes he's next in line for Silva I'm slightly baffled by , yes Diaz is a seriously talented individual , but he was not facing and beating the worlds best over there in SF , yes he battered Penn but has there ever been a worse version of Penn to grace an MMA bout ???

He fights his first live opponent outside of SF and loses the fight , debate what you want Nick Diaz was outstruck and out worked by Condit 4 rounds to 1 , he did not win that fight , and now after failing a drugs test and coming off a loss he wants " fights that matter " it isn't gonna happen

I have critisized Dana and the UFC's matchmaking for some time , and i agree they don't push the super fights enough , it doesn't matter to me if the next guy in line gets a shot and wins (Penn Edgar) , (Edgar Henderson) etc etc i want to see super fights (Penn Aldo) , (Jones Silva) (Aldo Cruz) and the likes , before i see people like Gustaffson or Weidman fighting for world title's , I'm not saying there undeserving , I'm just saying id like to see some mega fights being made , and the contenders (some of them) proving there actually title worthy

I think this is something Diaz was hinting towards , and i happen to partially agree with him , but knowing the UFC's stance on this , there gonna tell Diaz to pipe down , get in line and feed him someone like Rick Story knowing them ****s

 

Good post. I'm not interested in some of the proposed superfights (jones-silva being one), but I'd like to see some more interest in making some interesting fights for guys once they have proven themselves the undisputed number 1 over a period of time, repelling #1 contender after #1 contender. As things stand, guys like AS and GSP are surely going to get demotivated beating the Okamis and the Alves's of their divisions, and end up losing to lesser fighters because they lost their edge. I mean, how is Silva supposed to get motivated to fight Chris Weidman just because Weidman beat up Mark Munoz? And in all likelihood it's going to be Johny Hendricks or Martin Kampmann next for GSP, guys who aren't as good as the challengers that GSP was beating back when Georges was younger and hungrier.

I'd have liked to have seen Anderson vs Hendo II, because Hendo's physical disadvantages make the Bones fight a bit of a non-event for me, despite the slender chance of the H-bomb connecting. I'd have liked to have seen Nick Diaz held back to ensure a GSP vs Diaz fight, because it would be much more interesting and high-profile for the fans than GSP-Condit is, even if Condit did outpoint Diaz. I think it's fair enough that younger champions like Cruz and Dos Santos etc must face every #1 contender legitimately as they arise, but for guys who have proved it again and again and again, I'd be looking at making the most interesting fights for them, and being a little smarter and a little more selective about how those divisions work.

If you spend a year making Anderson vs Hendo II, GSP vs Nick Diaz and then Anderson vs GSP, have some tournaments in those divisions to crown an interim champ, make the relatively faceless guys like Weidman and Hendricks into stars by 8-men tournaments over 12 months, and then you've built these challenges sufficiently when they get made, rather than throwing a guy a title shot because he beat Mark Munoz or Jake Ellenberger.

 

Not gonna happen - but I would be interested if Nick moved to middleweight to chase the title. Welterweight is frozen until GSP comes back.

Agree, i was mentioning Cruz because at the time of the Faber / Johnson fights he was riding the crest of a wave , as was / is Jose Aldo , id just like the UFC to be a little less protective over there champions , and allow these inter weight class fights to go ahead , instead of building and building and building and building a champion (GSP & Silva) , and soon to be Jon Jones , it gets boring , the mega fights are there to be made , make them !!!

Plus .............. when you have a guy like Nick Diaz openly saying ill take fights " that matter " then the UFC should make fights " that matter " , he's not alone in being a non champion but having an elite skill set with a crowd pleasing style , Vitor Belfort , Shogun Rua , formerly Rampage , and the likes , these are guys that should be given a pass on this " work your way up " system the UFC have where you need to beat 2,3 or 4 different styles to prove your worth as a title contender , yes it works for people like Jon Fitch who is going to do nothing but grind his opponent to oblivion on the floor for 3 rounds , but for Diaz and the likes who are coming in to finish fights , give them the chance to fight guys who also want to finish fights , they don't have to be constantly in the title picture

If the UFC had any balls they'd give Diaz a tough striker @185 , Belfort does spring to mind , what a fight that is ??? , i know Vitor is tied up in a right tussle with Belcher but hey , just an example

Another example id be tuning in with more interest to Silva Diaz than i will be Silva Weidman , thats for sure

 

I am very conflicted about Nick Diaz. I hate the guy, but I love to watch him fight. And I especially love watching him lose close but clear decisions, and then cry and throw infantile tantrums about it.

I hate the guy because of the way he acts, but he entertains the hell out of me during his fights and with his antics in general. Which is what he's there to do as a professional fighter. So even though I hate the guy, I'm a Nick Diaz fan.

And yeah, Anderson Silva eats him alive. Obviously. :smoke

I think it would be a great idea for Diaz to take on Silva. Maybe Silva can beat a personality into Diaz.

 

I love absolutely everything about Nick Diaz. I love his style, his personality, everything. I do understand that he doesn't have the abilities of a GSP or an Anderson Silva, but for me he is still solid top 5 in his weight class and still has some great performances in him. After GSP mauls Condit, I'd like to see Diaz vs Condit II, but for Condit to actually fight this time instead of rigidly following a gameplan designed to result in a safety-first points win.

 

I wonder why Nick fancies his chances of middleweight gold vs Anderson more than he fancies sticking around at 170. Even with the Condit decision against him, he's still probably only two fights away from a shot at the title there, as he is much more sellable than faceless fighters like Hendricks and Kampmann.

Actually, I'd ****ing love to see Diaz vs Kampmann. That'd be my choice for Nick's comeback fight, unless the unthinkable happens and my man BJ somehow defeats Rory MacDonald. If that comes to be, surely we'll get BJ vs Nick II, hopefully with a BJ who has bothered to train.

Im not sure man (1st para), i think Diaz would rather fight a guy who will trade with him upstairs and run the risk of being KO'd by the single most talented striker/fighter the game has ever seen, than spend 15 minutes on his back, or against the cage looking for kimoura's or defending TD's respectively, and striking when possible, its clear Diaz really fancies his boxing as being somewhat elite, something i have to 2nd, there's not many pure strikers who can live with Diaz on the feet, Evangelista Santos and Daley where quite literally bamboozled by him, as was Penn once Diaz got in, i was surprised that simple hit and run tactics were enough for Condit to potshot his way to victory, surprised and disappointed :deal

Diaz Kampmann is a great fight :deal , i think Diaz would blitz him but I've been wrong with Diaz before

 

Leben being a slow plodder who arcs his shots from his waist and only knows left hook right hook combinations , fighting a seasoned muay thai wrecking machine who is freakishly put together with long limbs and a solid submission game
