I like both McCrory and Woodhall but they are co-commentators so wouldn't be given Hallings job. The only boxer you could ever see leading commentary would be Jim Watt and that's not a particularly pleasant thought. Adam Smith does know what he's on about, yes, but he's also a bit over dramatic for me and talks too much sometimes. Are you suggesting that Adam Smith has never called a fight wrong or made a few mistakes in commentary?
The guy hasn't a breeze. He settles into his pattern and just keeps rambling along that line regardless of what is happening in the ring. Jim Watt says something like:" so and so needs to up his work rate, it's a very encouraging start from (his opponent). 5 rounds later and the fight has completely swung in the opposite direction. Halling is still going: "well... really he's just been out worked all night, he's never looked in this fight at all, a really disappointing showing". Meanwhile, the guy is knocking his opponent senseless. Jim sighs and tries to save things "he's started looking a bit better this round, thankfully he's woken up now and is going about his business" Pretty much what has happened in every fight Halling has called so far.
nah not saying that, but hes passionate about it and is right mostly. Halling annoys me n gets stuff wrong every fight. bores me to death with that emotionless voice of his.
He has a way with words. He's commentated on some great fights for Sky over the years. Every good fight you dig up from the mid 90s onwards it's Darke commentating.
If some on here were following England beating West Germany in the world cup final someone would say that Kenneth Wolstenhulme was a **** for messing up, "he's got....some people are on the pitch".
