Cant imagine pavlik likes his nickname. It is crap. A ghost is something you cant hit and kelly pavlik is not that.

Malignaggi was originally called the dead end kid and hated it... luckily- the boxing press switched over and started calling him the magic man

Even in 1910, I'd imagine Sam Langford couldn't be thrilled with "Boston Tar Baby".

Carmen Basilio's nickname didnt exactly make him sound 'ard

    The Onion Farmer

Someone as impossibly tough as Carmen deserved a far better nickname than that

Actually that nick name started out as an insult. When Pavlik was a young amatuer the black kids called him "casper the ghost" because of his pale complexion. As a young amatuer he had a completely different style. He was a very slick boxer that delighted in stepping around behind opponents and slapping them on the ass; like "Hey -- I'm over here now fool!" One day his brother was watching some film of Pav, and made the off handed comment, "you were like a ghost in there," and KP embraced the name.

Palle once billed Kessler as "Simply the Best" - he hated that.

I thought Tommy was cool with it. Still, not much Ricky can do if fans start calling him it is there?
