Martinez looked nervous early on. He's usually more aggressive. After he got rocked in the second round, it seemed to wake him up and light a fire under him. Good fight. I wouldn't mind seeing Martinez giving Cook a rematch sometime in the future.
If he keeps his undefeated fighters with a few half-decent contenders, look for Gamboa vs. Martinez to happen after Gamboa picks up one of the ABC's at FW. And Gamboa will smash him.
And Cook was all over the shop. He got stopped, badly. Enzo got stopped, badly. Bradley Pryce got stopped (the worst of the lot in my opinion, was a series of horrific knockdowns) Matty Macklin smashed Wayne Elcock up. A lot of British fighters may have had their careers shortened/ended after tonight. And Khan should rematch Prescott in say, June, and then fight Marquez later on in the year. Sounds good, but two things. This contractual dispute between Warren and ARENA means that Khan and Prescott won't be fighting. Convenient, though I think Khan would like the fight (and judging by Prescott's last fight, could beat him if smart, though I don't think he will, Prescott will remember he's bigger, stronger, and can just walk through Khan) Second thing is, Marquez will destroy him. Roach hasn't been able to beat Marquez convincingly with the World's best P4P fighter, how is he gonna' help Khan achieve it? Also, Marquez just knocked out two guys who had never been stopped before. I'm sure Khan will start off well but Marquez is still tough, nowhere near shot, and will smash him up. I for one hope he does. I hate Khan.
Nah, Cook was well into it. He'd taken a couple of shots but seemed strong, and had previously rocked Martinez badly (unfairly not ruled a KD imo, he touched down) but then, out of nowhere, a scuffing uppercut and Cook goes down like he's been shot, and then uppercut, a very short left hook the moves his head slightly but didn't look dehabilitating.
Martinez is one very exciting fighter. I've been watching his last fights and he always goes all out. What a warrior.
