She was fairly old when the sport got going, and turning over at age 35 was never going to be a great run. The draw in her last fight was a good watch but she can leave the sport knowing she made history being the first women's gold medalist in boxing, and the first double gold medalist. A true amateur great for GB. Hopefully she can use her profile to boost the women's side of the sport now.
The female version of Lee Selby, Ricky Burns and Ant Crolla is going to be a big loss to the sport of boxthing. Good luck to Nick Adams in retirement.
For all the hype about Katie Taylor Nicola Adams was a far bigger name in this country. She never really got any pro momentum going. Wish her well going forward.
Agree with all that. She came too late to the pro ranks to make a big impact, but definitely made her mark in the amateurs and raising the profile of women's boxing.
She can be proud of her achievements, achieved far more than most on this forum. Hopefully she can stay involved in the sport and make a decent living.
Her pro career never took off like it was expected to bit she got a big signing on fee. Massive am career to be proud of. Good Luck.
The biggest names don't mean the best. She is a bigger star to non boxing fans in this country than Katie Taylor even today simply as shes actually from this country. Yet it never felt like that once she signed to Warren and BT.
