I like Locche by split decision. Like Whitaker, Locche will counter Chavez's aggresion with his defensive tactics and counterpunching skills, and he had the durability to weather Chavez's big attacks, and he could dish out enough leather to score points.
Great match-up.At first I think Lochee would be to slick for chavez but then I think Chavez's body attack would wear down Lochee in the latter rounds.Chavez tko 11 Lochee.
Agreed, considering Locche was not a mover like Whitaker, and would be in range throughout the fight, often in the pocket. It's possibly he could take some rounds fighting like he did against a guy like Fuji, countering well, but down the stretch, especially in a 15 rounder, I see him getting worn down and possibly stopped late.
I'm not sure how Locche would react against a great body puncher. He clearly looks great befuddling Fuji and a head hunting Cervantes, but then you hear that he got beaten rather convincingly by Carlos Ortiz. I wonder how Carlos did it.... With his stocky body, I find it hard to believe that Locche will be able to succesfully defend himself against Chavez's body attack. I have not seen from Locche the infighting skills that Whitaker possessed to be able to hold his own against Chavez on the inside either, though he does have a nice left rip to the body. I won't conclusively write Locche off here, but I do think it will be hard going if Chavez manages to get inside and pin Locche to the ropes, which I'm guessing he often will...
Locche wins, and then promptly gets robbed. He smiles and goofs off the crowd as Chavez whines on the mic.
Damn...someone's already done this thread. And it died quickly on top of that...ah, well. Russell....
How did your message get edited by someone else, the year before you wrote it or this thread even existed? :blood This place is getting buggy.
I can't see that at all. Especially the last line. Locche didnt really dish out enough offence to be a threat against the top class guys IMO. If there is no threat behind a good defence, it is very limited IMO. I think we can now see, with the emergence of the Hernandez bout, that when he went down stairs to the body he was landing, and it was only when he lost composure and started head-hunting did Locche really establish a lead in the fight. There are some similarities between Hernandez and Chavez IMO, but Chavez is much more accurate, could he perhaps make a better effort at landing head shots on Locche, he also is much more disciplined and inclined to go to the body and will definitly work it if the head is unavailable. Also Chavez will keep a high workrate and keep Locche in front of him at all times. I just dont see where Locche will have sucess. I could see an accumulation stopping Locche, just purely as Chavez wears down the body and the lack of offence from Locche to hold him off, lets Chavez really pour in on the body assualt. Interestign match up though.
