Can someone please tell me about him as a fighter? I see that he had nearly 120 wins, but only 14 knockouts, and only 4 losses. Why is he not mentioned as frequently as other greats when being talked about? I know he had ATG defence, which I have seen for myself, but that is really the extent of my knowledge of him.
I've only seen a few highlights of his and dont know much about him. Bottom line though if you are that feather fisted in the sport of punching, you must be very special in other departments to rack up that amount of wins
We mention him on here a lot. I think McGrain shares my opinion that he is numero uno for defence of all time. He is unreal to watch for his defensive brilliance. The man looked like he had a forcefield around his torso, and deflecting bodyshots whilst slipping with your head at the same time is not easy. He would stand right there and cling to his opponent and dodge everything, or he would stand off them and do the same, playing to his crowd and entertaining them. An icon in Argentina. Just listen to the crowd. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LEKHMUCh8k[/ame]
So you never read any of the five hundred Locche topics over the past few years, countless posts detailing his career, skills, defence, best performance on film etc?.. he had a great receding hairline.
Just listen to the crowd at 4 minutes of that vid. You've probably heard it countless times, but it gets me every time.
For the same reason that Duilio Loi isn't: he spent most of his career "hidden" away on his home turf fighting in low-profile fights; plus the fact that the jr. welter division was not a universally recognized or popular division at that time. Having said that, his notoriety has made something of a "comeback" in recent years on boxing boards like these.
To be honest, no. Although I when I asked why is is not mentioned as frequently as others, I was talking more in general, not on this site. He has only really gained my interest today.
This content is protected GIFSoup Of my favourite fighters of all time, I wish there was more footage of him.
Interesting that he was that defensive genius without use too much his legs.....I wouldn´t rate his mobility too high, and even so he was incredibly hard to hit as we all know...... His infighting ability was great too.....and he had a nice left hook.....ask Fuji how damaging that was..... By the way I uploaded in my channel his fight with the very good brazilian contender João Henrique: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgA-ZnilSAo[/ame] From what I know I think is fair to say that Nicolino is the most loved fighter in Argentina....more loved than Monzon possibly......died because of smoking......
Many thanks for uploading that Vic :good Locche & Monzon both smoked throughout their careers, Argentinian cigarettes must have some secret ingredients :yep
