Nieky Holzken is a 34 year old 5'11.5 Super Middleweight with a 13-0 10 KO's Boxing record. Hails from the delightfully wonderful country of The Netherlands, Nicolaas Holzhen was born in the city of Beek en Donk and is fighting out of Helmond. I must say... 30 is a little late to start a boxing career especially without any form of an amateur record, but he did get his start in combat sports with a career in Kickboxing. He debuted at the age of 21 and became the 2 time European Muay Thai champion and K-1 MAX Scandinavia 2006 tournament champion his Kickboxing record stands at 90-14-1 56 KO's 4 KO losses. He's currently trying to compete as both a boxer and kickboxer simultaneously, which I don't think is the smartest idea, but at this early point in his career 6-0 6 KO's is a fine start. He's fast, skilled and very talented. He has a fine jab, seemingly a very good chin, a nasty left hook to the body, and controls range well, he could work on his defense a little, but it ain't that bad. So Check Out this Handsome Tattooed Kickboxing Dutchman try his hand at the Sweet Science.:ggg:ggg:ggg:ggg

Great kickboxer, won't get anywhere in boxing though. His style doesn't cross over well at all imo.

I thought it was risky since he's a kickboxer, but you never know, but yeah the Dutch haven't historically been that great.

Finally a topic about a Dutch guy!
Holzken is naturally a kickboxer, but is doing boxing as well.
As the popularity of kickxing is decreasing, the talent in boxing is rising.
A lot of guys switch over to boxing nowadays. Boys like Albert Kraus, Henri van Opstal and Andy Souwer already made a switch to boxing.
Their is some new talent on the way which was showed a couple of weeks ago with Gevorg Khatchikian (who lost to James deGale, but did better then most expected) and Rafik Harutjunjan, who won the WBF welterweight title (While he is a Light welter).

After about 7/8 years, the Dutch are back in boxing again.

You really are delving into thye deepest darkest corners of boxing to keep these threads going!

Still 1,000,000 times better than having to read May-Pac threads.

    This ^.

Our Stakhanovite friend is close to digging the mine empty, but it's really good to see something productive rather than endless to and fro fanboyism.

Far better to at least watch the fights, keep an eye out for new talent coming through and, goddammit just enjoy the sport than indulge in the endless trench warfare that passes for conversation on many boxing forums these days.

Plenty of the guys CST has highlighted may amount to little, some of them may be stars of tomorrow. Even the reminiscence threads are worthwhile reminders that the stars (even the fading ones) of today were the prospects of a decade or so ago.

You've been watching more Glory/kickboxing I take it? Anyways, Holzken is a joy to watch. The Dutch haven't really produced many great boxers, but they produced some legendary kickboxers. Pretty much have their own unique still of Muay Thai....

They haven't had great boxers but they've had some badasses in other combat sports (K-1, Muay Thai, Pride, MMA etc)

Not true... Maybe to a boxing purist, but as others have said The Dutch have done a lot for combat sports, particularly in Kickboxing/Muay Thai.
