Nigel Benn, and the people advising Conor, are irresponsible.

I think there are possibilities with him, but it’s the build up and the hype around him that will be his downfall.
Sky devoting whole programmes to him, it’s all nonsense.
His Dad should keep out of the way also, and they all just need to step back and let the lad progress gradually.
He completely lost his discipline in his last fight after he was knocked down and although he showed great heart and dug deep, if he continues in that vein he’ll get sparked.

If he drops to area level he then needs to step up after 1 fight there. He just needs good fights picked for him. He still needs testing but I'm sure everyone around him will be a bit more careful in selecting opposition. He can't stay at area level for to long and the last opponent was above that level anyway.

I definitely think at this point Conor needs honesty and constructive criticism about where he's really at in his career rather than hearing a load of bullshine and keep trying to build him as a killer machine for the casuals

He don't need to be hearing words from a load of yes men and hangers on he needs brutal honesty and words from bods who know the sport and don't beat around the bush

I don't book him anyways tbh

Most people complain about hand picked fights. You seem to want them.

I don' really get it. From as far as I can remember...Conor Benn and his team even Eddie hearn have downplayed him if anything. Yes they tell him a great performance etc. But I ve personally heard conor say about twenty times he's a work in progress....its all learning. He's got to keep improving etc. Eddie hearn himself says he's basically a novice.

The commentators get carried away but which matchroom fighter do they not do that with. They all got a bit carried away recently cause until his last opponent by all accounts he was doing well. Knocking other novices out in good fashion. Apart from that they,be pretty much made it clear...he needs a lot of learning etc. I don't really see loads of kidding people on. Just more being genuinely congratulatory of his recent performances...nothing really wrong with that.

The improvements that Conor has to make to even win a British title are so great, that he would actually be better off calling it a day now, than continuing. Unless he is shamelessly cashing in already on that surname financially, then I do not see why he is continuing because the improvement required to be a force is not realistically going to happen.

You can only improve by so much.

Conor believe s he is the most improved fighter of 2017. He also said he's made from a different cloth from the rest of the pack. He also believes he's the only fighter who gets tested which made me chuckle considering he's only fought journeyman.

Meanwhile his father has been whispering in his ear that he is destined to be greater than him and become world champion.

The matchroom goons such as Kell Brook, and Sky have been telling us that he is a chip off the old block and the sky is the limit with this thug.

Hardly comments which would help keep his feet on the ground wouldn't you say?

The boy clearly believes he is a special elite fighter after coming through wars against complete bums. He is on the path not greatness but to serious brain bleed if he doesn't stop believing this nonsense.

Tbf its called promotion. All matchroom fighters pretty much get this same deal. And I,d imagine all matchroom fighters that we,re knocking out novices in good fashion would also get the same things said about them.

But in conors defence and a lot of their defences they,ve said plenty of times the situation. Conors learning on the job. Yeah they got a bit carried away after Benn had a very good 2017 leading up to that last fight...but again its their job to promote him in that way.

Fair enough Benn's been catapulted into the big shows etc basically just because of his last name. I get why people are angry with that. But tbf to the guy...he's been entertaining so far. A lot more entertaining to watch that a lot of Match room fighters tbf. And when push came to shove the kid stayed in their and gave it everything he had in that last fight. I could see the negativity if he folded early doors and gave up the game. But he's still here...he's still ready to go again. And for all the critism he's had...it was a real entertaining fight. Sometimes the levels not the be all and end all. The kid deserves the chance to go again off the back of that last fight.

Problem is, the same way he's gaining attention/promotion for his last name, other (better) fighters around his weight class will be looking to do the same.
It becomes a curse because he'll be called out and people will demand he takes those challenges. And the money talks, at the end of the day.

The same way Matchroom are building Conor up on the Benn name, the same promoters will be quick to build a better prospect up off beating Conor Benn.
And the more it looks like Conor Benn can't cut it against even the lowest level opponents, the sooner it wil be in the promoter's mind to use him to boost the profile of someone of more substance.

I hate all the Benn hype etc but they are totally right to do it and it would be mental if they didn't, they have just went to far and put to much pressure to quick. The biggest problem is Connor believes all the shite..

I think Benn looked flat, certainly in comparison to how he looked last time out in the states. To me I think he went in there underestimating the opponent thinking it was another day in the office where he was going to steam roll through Peynaud before getting the shock of his life.

I had a little look into Cedrick Peynaud since then and there is more to him than the Boxrec ranking and now 5-5-3 record would have you believe..

First things first and to get a much loved Sky quote out of the way "he's never been stopped" .... Benn did drop him heavily and was getting to him.

Secondly, 2 of the losses came to French champ Renald Garrido... who as we all know gave former Olympian Bradley Saunders absolute fits and more recently Tyrone McKenna only just edged past him. I know Saunders hasn't lived up to expectations as a pro, but in terms of experience and amateur pedigree he is streets ahead of Benn.

Finally he's also a European and World kickboxing champion. So not just any old mug they've pulled in.

Agree with many on here though, I would like to see Benn stay behind closed doors now and work on his craft rather than being wheeled out on big cards as a filler. Let him learn the trade properly. By the looks of it he also has the means to get out to America and get some work over there, so have him do it.

Benn Jnr is game, but will never rise above regional at this rate.

I hate to say that too, as he comes across as very likeable and humble and honest, unlike his counterpart Eubank Jnr. I really hope hes not putting his life on the line for the wrong reasons, his character does strike you as someone who has valuable "people" skills that will go to waste in a H2H sport.

This nice guy thing might be all surface mind you, reading some of the posts above about imitating Downs sufferers. Jeez. In which case he'd be better off enlisting on The Apprentice, a bunch of arzes in the extreme.
