Whether you think the interviewer had a point, I feel people should keep the same energy with someone whether there is 30 security guards there or whether it’s just him and Nigel Benn in a room.

Then as Benn walks off and there’s then several people between them, the interviewer gets even more cocky saying ‘Don’t talk to me like that!!!’ In an aggressive tone, not saying he didn’t have a point, but it’s change in energy as he felt safer, if you’re trying to get a point across, and you know the guy on the other end is a world level boxer, it just looks a bit silly trying to sound tough IMO.

He looked drunk in the first Steve Collins fight. Maybe the Guinness is the clue.

Lout behaviour, all too common in boxing. Still like Benn and was one of my favourite boxers but he came across as a right tit a lot of the time.

Yes, he was great to watch but probably a pain in the arse to deal with on the day to day. It's difficult with Bennto separate one from the other. It was great to watch him, he wasn't the most skilful, but there was always the feeling that not far below the surface there was a very bad hombre held barely in check and as his fights turned into wars Dr Jeckyll gave way to Nigel Hyde.

when the going gets tough the tough get going and that was Nigel for most of his career! He was bloody rubbish against Collins and that was only a year after the McClellan win which is one of my favourite boxing matches I've ever seen. The action was great, it went one way and then the other. Looked like it would be over finished. The atmosphere was something special. McClellan was a horrible man. Even though Benn could be loutish and seem a bit of a thug I always got the impression he was a decent bloke but troubled and his own worst enemy at times. I saw it almost a fight between good and bad. I remember the week leading up to it especially and nobody gave Benn a hope in hell. Not a bloody hope. I think there was one pundit or boxer who predicted Benn and that was it. Great memories mate.

He didn’t owe some mick reporter and answer to anything. Probably didn’t understand the paddy accent anyway
