Nigel Benn-Gerald McClellan - what caused the blood clot?

It was very sad to see him go like that... G-Man could have been one of the ATG's , he really was great. This is why I respect boxers so much, they put a lot more at risk than any other athlete... and nowadays there just isn't the same reward that there use to be.

 

He was having trouble well prior to the fight, in sparring sessions, etc, and as early as the Jackson I fight, where he can be clearly seen blinking rapidly and uncomfortably in between rounds. Apparently he wasn't even supposed to have been cleared by the doctor, though King made sure something as arbitrary as the well being of a fighter didn't interfere with his payday. Taking those kinds of hard shots without regard will eventually add up, and when you throw in the shots he took from Benn that night (along with the constant rabbit punches the referee accidentally missed out on:roll: ) it was not a good situation for G-Man from the beginning.
