In a Way this fight exemplfies what was so exciting about the young Benn, you can Criticize his defence, Criticize his Balance, but with this version of Nigel there was little in the way of Feeling out, and of course Nigel was never more dangerous then when Hurt, as he proved on many occassions, Nigel particularly at this time in his carrer was one of those fighters who you didnt even want to blink when they were in the ring Few fighters were more exciting Of Course, you can not maintain this Kamikazee approach against world class opporsition, and Nigel had lessons to learn, and did so, but even the older Benn could still let it all hang out when he choose to As for Logan, he had upset Benn in the pre fight Build-up so Nigel was not inclined to Pussyfoot around with him, if he had been more respectful, played it cool, he might of stood a chance of Ambushing Nigel, But this Nigel wanted a right old Tear-up, it nearly cost him.

christ that was some left hook. A real 'hail mary' shot if ever i seen one. Correct me if im wrong here but at the time wasnt this fight NOT shown on tv for some reason or another. I vaguely remember watching Sportsnight (or something similar) and the news filtered through of this war, saying Logan had Benn down and nearly out. I remember wishing that i could see this this but probably never will. Thank the lord for You-tube eh? For all his weaknesses, i just loved to watch Benn, he was real easy on the eye
Yeah, that's the way I remember it too. I can't remember why it wasn't televised. ITV had shown just about every Benn fight up to this. I remember reading on teletext (oh, ye olde days !) or in the papers next day it had been a war, and in BN at the end of the week.
Benn was so exciting back then. If you wanted to introduce a casual to Boxing back then, you couldn't go wrong by showing them a Benn fight ;-)
Benn had had that high-profile split with ****** where he no-showed on the Luton Town FC bill where he was supposed to share billing with McGuigan. Lots of court stuff going on. Think ****** still had exclusive rights on ITV and the British Board didn't affiliate themselves w/ Ambrose Mendy as a manager/promoter so BBC was out the question. Then Frank Maloney came in as acting manager/promoter and the Benn/David Noel fight was shown on BBC. Later there were clips of the Benn/Logan fight (mostly the ending) on ITV before Benn fights with no commentary... I remember in the build-up to the Watson fight, to show Benn's vulnerability. Benn was big news back then. Linford Christie, John Fashanu and most of the Eastenders cast at all his fights.
yeah i was there it was great i was also there when eubank beat logan a very good boxing performance from eubank and looking back a statement of how different each of them was
at that time it had been the longest time Benn had been out of the ring as he had a bitter falling out with *****
