Who do you think had the greater punching power ? I think most would go with Nigel benn due to his style and he did have more knockouts but still what do you think ? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oi1JwB0rQ_s[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wT7J9WtfLbM&feature=related[/ame]
Benn was the bigger puncher. Eubank had the better technique, but Benns big shots were just brutal, I remember a couple of the punches he hit Dewitt with were like gunshots going off.
He lost the majority of his power when he moved to SMW, whether that was cos of his new counter punching style or not, I'd still consider him a heavier handed fighter than Eubank, every shot he through, still rocked fighters.
I would favour Benn too , but when you think how Eubank rocked Carl Thompson for some reason i cant imagine benn being able to do this to a man much larger than himself
you might be right , benn often through good combinations wheras Eubank could really shake a man with one right , eg the second watson fight the right uppercut came from nowhere and was truely devestating...
I actually think Chris Eubank hit "Alittle" harder, when he was desperate and had no other option, when he was totally backed into a corner in a fight. Chris Eubank was a stylist......... But Nigel Benn threw most of his punches with bad intentions. Chris Eubank did'nt, thats the only reason why Eubank did not have as much "Knock-Outs"
Alot of people feel that after Watson , Eubank always held back a little which I guess isnt suprising. This could contribute to his lower KO percentage
Yeh he certainly held back in the Thompson fight , I think he would have finished him if he had gone all out
Benn surely had more raw power, better natural punching leverages. At SMW he was fighting mostly light-heavies/cruisers coming down, where he could still make middle!
