You're not exactly spoiled for choice. Footsoldier is probably the best and Bonded by Blood the worse but all 3 arn't much better than time fillers.
Yeah they're all pretty ****. If you want accuracy there's a few tv shows from the time about it on youtube e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnHX-YlyX1g
Cheers :good Were they all part of the ICF anybody know? I know Leach was, did my dissertation at uni on the football hooliganism.
Tucker and Tate weren't, Leach met them at the gym and they supplied him with steroids and hormone growth drugs.
Not bad, but the actor who played Leech had no air of menace at all and the wig and sunbed tan they put on Tucker made it pretty hard for me to take them seriously as hardmen/ gangsters. Aside from Craig Fairbrass who played Pat Tate it was pretty poor casting IMHO.
It's a lot more entertaining than Bonded By Blood which was a bag of ****. Not sure about the factuality of both films though.
They're absolutely nothing. You want gangs, then google mexican chainsaw - then you'll see what a proper gang is.
Rise Of The Footsoldier was a brilliant! I really don't know how factual it is though! I'm downloading that British Gangsters: Faces Of The Underworld which someone suggested in this thread! Give that a blast tonight!!
Craig fairbrass played a cracking part. Not sure how close it was to real life pat tate but he was menacing, unpredictable and indiscriminate in his violence. Tamer hassan in bonded by blood was just basically typecast tamer hassan...thought neil maskell was good in both but bonded by blood on the whole tried too hard. Rotfs did a little too but was far more entertaining, i watch it every now and again to get my fix of "cant". Bernard omahoney imo is a crank, hes playing on the fact noone is around to dispute him, and basically spins bull**** to make himself look hard. In one of the documentaries afterwards he mentions being sad as his mates were dead, then more recently his whole tune changed. He claims whomes and steele are innocent but makes a film claiming to be nothing but the truth, where the climax is unequivocal in who killed them. Nigel benn did hang around with them by all accounts but there seems to be little documented about it. Maybe try his books etc, i know he featured on another documentary about them but not much else is around. The new film out this year is called the fall of the essex boys i think. Doesn't look like shaping up to be anything more than a carbon copy of the other two. Will still watch it though in case it turns out good. One more person's account of the era is nipper ellis' book called last man standing.
horrific would be an understatement for this http://news.asiantown.net/r/20999/mexican-drugcartel-post-chainsaw-execution-video-online
agree with yer there mate on bernard o mahoney. used to go on his message board a few years ago and his website. anyone who disagreed with him got slaughtered he says that carlton leach was never really in the firm and **** but theres only one or two pics of him with tucker and tate. theres loads of pics of carlton with tony whomes and steeles familys have fell out with him many times over his two face ****. he allowed his film to say steele and whomes were guilty after all the campaigning hes done. why didnt his film tell about the dodgt evidence against them
