The Body Snatcher woulda beat Benn within a inch of his life. No contest at all.

 

Too bad Eubank doesnt agree with you. He wanted NO parts of McCallum. If Eubank could BARELY beat Watson... he'd have had no chance with McCallum.

As the poster before said... Eubank, and Benn were good fighters, but honestly they were a level below the likes of McCallum, Toney, and Nunn.

Well, Eubank is friends with Mike and yes, in their day he wanted no part of him.

Eubank poses stylistic difficulties to a lot of fighters and I think Eubanks feigns and jab would cause McCallum a lot of problems.

The Watson-Eubank-McCallum thing doesn't wash with me, but one reason why I think Mike WOULD win is simple; he's a fantastic body puncher. Eubank famously did not like it to the body.

I'd go for Eubanks strength and own power to keep McCallum at bay. I.E I don't think The Body Snatcher will be able to mount a sustained enough attack to cause someone as tough as Eubank to quit by getting digged to the body (Both guys stone-clad chins basically cancel out any chance of a legitimate 'K.O') but Eubank would earn McCallum's respect early I think with his two-fisted attack and his own strange way of forcing the pace.

Eubank had the style to make anyone wary. Against McCallum it wouldn't quite be enough, but in comparison to Benn he has a massive chance.

I didn't make myself clear, I was picking from our own 'fabulous four' (of which I categorically deny Steve Collins a place.)

My own pick; Herol Graham (even though he didn't fight any of them he gave McCallum a close run and was actually in the ring with McCallum and Jackson and Kalambay, something his peers didn't do and that's enough IMO)

 

Its not always how it works... but in this case it is. Explain to me how Eubank beats McCallum? Mike was by far the superior technician, had far more ring intelligence, a higher workrate, and better stamina. You cant even give Eubank a puncher's chance, cause McCallum had an atg chin. Theres just no scenario where Eubank could beat McCallum. He couldnt outbox McCallum, couldnt outwork him, and couldnt knock him out. McCallum woulda beaten Eubank by a clear margin. As would have Toney, and Nunn. Jones woulda white washed him.

Its debatable if Eubank would have even beaten Reggie Johnson. I think Johnson would have outboxed him.

I just find Eubank to be extremely overrated. Having said that... I'd favor Eubank over anyone at middleweight CURRENTLY.

 

Eubank has a far better chance against McCallum than Benn.

 

Clear to see. The truth is he was clearly a beast at the weight. Your opinion is valid, I'm not gonna' sit here and say Eubank would beat Hagler or Monzon! But he would be competitive with all of those guys, except maybe Jones, who at Middle I can't see too many people being genuinely competitive with.

 

Problem with that is McCallum could still take you apart when you are putting an unbelievable amount of pressure on him. For evidence of this watch McCallum v Harding, McCallum vs [url]Luigi Minchillo[/url].

[url]Niether Duran or Hearns could stop Luigi Minchillo[/url] and McCallum made his corner throw in the towl because McCallum was counter punching him to death. Watch the Harding fight and look at the counters he hits Harding with.


I believe the best way to beat McCallum is with speed, that is how Sumbu Kalambay managed to beat him, he was a little bit quicker on top of being a damn good fighter himself of coarse.

McCallum would also tattoo Benn with the jab to.

 

McCallum too seasoned, too cagey and too fluid, especially past the midway point of a match to lose to the likes of Benn. McCallum TKO8

 

I love Benn but McCallum was a different class, Benn would make it competitive and I would hope he goes the distance but I can see McCallum stopping him late.
