Ben would give him total ****ing hell, but probaly come up short,if he got the fight in the uk though he may win,but of course RJJ would have never come to the uk to fight, not a chance.

Apparently Benn said recently he couldn't understand why Jones never fought him as he believed Jones would've kicked his ass.

i agree he would give him hell. Benn was a proud brother he was never gonna lay down even when he was hurt (which was easy to do) he could counter and was a tough guy even if he did have a weak chin he could come out on top through his guts ,power ,strength and abilty.

roy might of been tapped here and even knocked down...ud for roy but a good showing from benn

but when he was fighting in england with a homebase he was a bad bad man...good fight maybe not a classic but a good 90's middlewieght fight

used to think Benn would give Jones hell - But now I think it would be a wide UD for Jones with Benn probably having an eye closed by the end

Are people forgeting how devastating Jones was at this time? Benn would get knocked out and maybe early, pressuring Prime Jones who had lightening fast precision power shot while you have an average defense is going to see any sub-190lber get knocked out. Just look at the Sosa and Brannon fights and Sosa may have been a bigger puncher than Benn and landed on Jones

I would agree with this. I imagine RJJ would take a lopsided decision, and in respecting benn's power he would not engage anymore than he absolutely needed to. it would likely be a boring fight, that Jones would nearly sweep on the cards..but if Benn catches him...I just don't think that is the likely scenerio!

Thing is, Jones is much better technically on the inside than on the outside. He might have lasted longer at the top if he had adapted a Toney-esque type of style when his legs left him. He's so composed and balanced, and his punches and cominations are razor sharp.

I love Benn. One of my favorites. But Jones dismantles him.

  13. ergh benn primed as a middleweight , at supermiddle he lost that devestating power he had at middleweight , jones would be much too fast , i say late tko for jones

yeah, people need to realize how good jones was at 168. if benn tries to survive early on he can lose a decision but if he's agressive, jones would stop him.

Benn's my favorite fighter ever, but yeah, Jones would have beaten him. Benn was at his best when in a war and i think Jones was too clever and too good to let it get to that.Even on Nigel's best night.
