Sibson was written off in many of his fights : Frankie Lucas, Minter, Kaylor (to a degree) & John Collins but won convincingly each time. Prime Sibbo v prime Benn would’ve been a classic. Both men could punch with ferocity, Benn was more open to being hit, l pick Sibson.
‘87, Sibson had had enough (60 bouts), Benn was young and inexperienced. Sibbo raised his game against home grown fighters, It’s hard to pick in all honesty.

If Anthony Logan can hurt and almost stop Benn you can bet that slightly worn Sibson could also.

Benn should win by late-rounds TKO virtue of being younger and fresher whereas Sibbo is 3-4 years past prime. But if that left hook properly catches Benn it's all over.

Thats some of my favourite sparring ...Dursn shows magnificent skills while barely going out of 2nd or 3rd gear

Sibbo could box when he wanted and had a quick jab,but he was nearing the end of his good years.
Benn wins ,prime for prime Tony might get that hook in early he had fast hands.

    I tend to agree Mac.
However prime for prime I don’t think it’s a given.

Its in Jim Kirkwood" s book on Tony Sibson..so its a reliable source given hes also a respected forum poster with a popular youtube channel...Mr Sibson himself is pretty humble not the type to boast

Sibbo would have tapped some a$$ in today's 154-160 landscape, thats for sure.

It’s well known that Sibbo didn’t enjoy the limelight or being interviewed much either.
He just wanted to box. His autobiography pretty much confirms this.

I always enjoyed watching his fights, he's a very self-effacing honest bloke.

He is. I spent my early 20’s following him around the country. Saw him fight in Paris too. I think he would’ve struggled today, cameras everywhere, press harassment etc.

    Benn was 12-0 novice.
Sibson was washed past days best. but also still fringe on world level class.

Benn just had 7 rounds with over the weight welter Reggie Miller as biggest test . & Winston Burnett!! in 1987! no. sibson must be favoured! even year later Benn almost knocked by caribbean commonwealth level Anthony Logan!
Benn look awesome at this era! knock out in few seconds like mini Tyson! but with bums! no.
We must say Sibson. too much season.

1990- Benn with 1987 Tony Sibbo different story. Benn win it .

    prime & prime. probably Sibson.

Prospect? Miller already had 6 losses when he fought Benn.
