Benn coming in as WBO champion Hearns off the back of the Sugar Ray draw, this fight was muted but didn't happen for whatever reason..

Did Hearns still have the big leveller, or was he too shot and chinny for the quick hard punching suspect chinned Benn

Even in 1990 ? I think it was 60/40 in Benn favour had it happened.. Too quick and he had a style where he often ducked below waist height to get inside, at MW Benns power was brutal

Hearns too old for that fight......Benn might have seriously hurt him. Glad the fight never happened.

First solid punch Benn lands would be the beginning of the end for Tommy I'm afraid although it might take a few rounds before that happens and I could see Benn getting outboxed and rocked a few times before he catches TH.

At MW I'm not even sure if the Hearns of 87/88 would beat Benn, too fragile around the chin for a puncher like Benn IMO.

Hearns would have been darkly destroyed, early.

Really depends who lands their best punch first. I'd still favour Tommy.

The difference for me is that Benn would likely be able to recover and keep fighting if TH landed a big shot and hurt him, I don't believe Hearns would have been able to do the same thing if rocked by Benn.

I was a big Hearns fan back in the day...I was afraid for Hearns with this fight being mentioned.

Exactly. Hearns was fortunate to survive the Roldan fight...Hearns wasn't built to handle aggressive, powerful punchers well.
