Shot Benn ( the wars he was in took their toll) and Ward is undefeated, like Mayweather, both on paper, but reality, both have lost.
I think it's just a little too early to say. If Ward keeps impressing me, though, I could see him beating Benn. I hold Benn in high esteem for his power, his bobbing and weaving at one point, and his tenacity, but he seemed to lack a few things in being an elite who stands the test of time. Elite from his time period, yes, but I think Ward might be able to transcend such barrier if all goes well over the next 10 or so years.
95% of the world knows Mayweather lost to Castillo, a large proportion knows he lost to ODLH and there is no reason why he shouldn't have been DQ'ed when Roger Mayweather tried choking out Judah during their fight , anyone else would have been dq'ed, that's 3 losses, and the Ortiz one should have been a DQ too. A lot of epople think Ward lost to Boone.
More to the point, could Ward beat McCleland? Could Ward keep huge punchers like McCleland and Benn out for a full 12 rounds on NEUTRAL GROUND? As much as i like people like Froch, i think he is just too slow. Benn was much quicker and more powerful. Froch's power gets hyped up too much. If Benn or McCleland connected with any of the punches they dished out in that fight on Ward, he would go down. Just because slow Froch couldn't connect properly, much faster fighters like Benn and McCleland would.....
I reckon Ward would approach this opponent with more common sense.Ward outboxes Nigel Benn.Ward would not dismiss Benns power as the likes of Barkley and McClellan did.Benn was never superbly skilled,Roy Jones,James Toney yes and Andre Ward would beat him.He would have to keep that chin well guarded though and make sure the fight was in Oakland, that would certainly help.
He wasn't particularly tough. His main attribute was his aggression (NOT power) which better opponents (and Eubank) were able to use against him.
Your pitiful Vcash total is completely summed up by every post you makeatsch:rofl:dead You think a guy who struggled against Boone, Bika and Froch would easily out box Benn:dead:dead
lol @ anglosaxon making fun of anyones vcash total. and yes Benn was tough but he was mainly more aggressive.
He wasn't particularly tough? atsch Have you ever watched Benn VS McCellan? In the first round Benn looks unconscious on the ropes and his chin is repeatedly landed on FLUSH and then he falls out of the ring. There's controversy to whether or not he got back in in time, but the fact that he even wanted to get back in, and was able to recover like that, shows he is more than tough.
