Froch is a very good professional fighter and I have a ton of respect for him. But Nigel Benn in his prime was just a monster in the ring. I have to give the edge to Nigel.

ye thats true froch's is strength + stamina would beat benn, in the last few rounds, thats two things he had over mcellan. stamina + strength not too be confused with punching power.

Benn would catch him and drop Froch multiple times, but maybe just maybe Froch could pull off a late stoppage as Benn had quit in him when he tired.

i think it would be a legit stoppage, froch would pummel him into the ropes late in the 9th round, benn will try his head bobbing and weaving ducking to his knees but only slower, and froch will catch him. benn was dangerous fighting off the ropes but also very vulnerable.

Of course, but the likelihood is Benn knocks him out before he gets a chance to knock Benn out.
    It's a matter of styles.

There is always that, but what happens when that doesnt work?

At least with Froch has a few tricks up his sleeve, Froch might be slow, but i feel hes a much more intelligent fighter than Benn.

If Froch makes it into the second half of the fight, Benn is getting stopped.

I don't see this alleged superior intelligence in Froch at all.

and you cant see the difference in fighter between Kessler 1+2 and Groves 1+2 and Froch vs Abraham?

The only reason im struggling to pick Froch against Benn is due to how slow Froch is (not really his fault)

If he had good/very good speed i'd happily pick him over Benn with much more confidence.

So, "intelligence" is losing or struggling badly for a whole fight and then coming back to do better in the rematch?

Nigel Benn's improvements and refinements from the losses to Watson and Eubank ('89-'90) to his more seasoned years (c.'92-'95 including Eubank rematch) were glaring, if that's the case. In fact, I thought he got a little too refined in some of those fights at 168.

Winning a rematch against a guy who stylistically has your number and is faster than you and performing much better than the first outing, does this not show some intelligence?

Froch hasnt finished his career yet so its difficult to gauge what happens next with him.

It's a good quality to come back and improve at a rematch.
But how does it help in a one-chance fight with a prime Nigel Benn?
And didn't Benn do the same with Eubank?

Benn developed into a rounded, seasoned, intelligent fighter too, often at the expense of being as spectacular.
I don't see how Froch is "more intelligent" boxer at all.
