    Froch.

Ward would toy with Benn. Froch was Ward's toughest fight to date.

Nobody toys with the Dark Destroyer.

Benn would come out of his corner in his typical seek and destroy mentality, and Ward would never have seen something like that before.
Ward beats Benn, but in no way does he have an easy time the first three or so rounds, no way.

Froch has a very good chin, but its not Eubank's level and he's not had to contend with anyone who's had the viscious punching power of Benn. The way to beat Benn is to outbox him or outlast him, Froch couldn't do the first - and in fact more likely than not wont try and will willingly meet him head on - and I'm not sure he could do the second.

    Benn.
Froch is doing well in this time, but SMW was tougher just a few years ago and not as empty as it is now.
Froch would be game, but I think Benn would keep catching him with big flush shots that would win rounds. Benn was bigger punching, faster and I think boxed better when he wanted to. Benns chin was ok at SMW and survived bigger punchers than Froch in McClellan

I would pick Benn to KO Ward. Its a very empty era at the moment where faded Kessler is the biggest win for Ward and Froch. I think due to Benn being as fast as he was and powerful he would be catching Ward

benn has a fair chance on his best day but truth is that when he went up in weight, whjilst he learned more skills, his power didn't carry well, and its so advantage froch at smw.

again, on his best day, when he was mental, Benn had a good chance, but that day didn't transpire on his smw adventures o its impossible to say he can definitely stop froch if you are being rational, but you cant rule it out completely.

Catchweight when benn was young and crazy would put the odds in benns favour.

I have never considered these two fighting, and i must say that just the thought of it makes me very moist.

That would have been a truly great fight, but i would have to lean towards Benn.

If only we had a time machine.

tbf Benn on his best mental day could stop anyone except the great skillsters. It wouldn't matter if you had a granite chin on that day, you could get stopped by this mentalist, when he was prepared to die and to kill.

He couldn't stop anyone on "his best mental day" because he'd never stop Eubank. Eubank had the perseverance to see any fight through to its end, and the chin to withstand anyone. In Benn's own words: "I could hit Chris’ chin with anything and it wouldn’t even move."

(I am aware Eubank was stopped in the second Thompson fight but that was after two wars with a big punching cruiserweight and a doctors stoppage because of swelling around his eye, he wasn't even close to being stopped otherwise.)

Benn destroys everyone at 168 today.

He has beaten better boxes , bigger punches. all types.

Froch as much as I love his attitude would really be in trouble.

yeah you know thanks for that I was actually thinking of editing in 'except the best granite chins' to replace that, so I appreciate the correction.
So that includes the slickest elusivists and the best granites.

I actually was thinking about starting this thread yesterday and you beat me to it. This would be a great match up between two hard hitting englishmen with unique styles. Very hard fight to judge I'd say Froch is the more consistent fighter but I gotta go with the Dark Destroyer because when he was on he was ON I say he takes Froch out in the mid rounds in a wild fight but certainly this match up could go either way.
