Benn does have size, Griffith is better though, just better. I lean towards Griffith because of this, Griffith was pretty versatile, I like him best when he was on offense though, because of the way combos flowed into the target. and the hand speed. You'd have to imagine that both of these guys are going to throwing and landing serious leather. Could go either way if Benn really exerts bombing type **** that is going to produce something special, but I favour Griffith.
I don't see Griffith getting ambushed here the way he did against Carter. People forget that Emile only took that fight because he wanted one more fight that year but wanted something low profile to avoid going into a higher tax bracket which resulted in him not taking Carter seriously (he was in condition though)
Benn would have his window of opportunity early (dave bontempo?) but Emile out classes him. Mid rounds tko.
A very good chance the bigger, much harder hitting Benn pounces on Griffith early.. BUt probably more times than not Emile survives and after 3 or 4 rounds has his way with Benn.. Although Benn was more explosive at Mw than Sm , he was also more green and not as good.. 7x out of 10 im going with Griffith ud over 10 or late stoppage in a championship fight... The other 3 out of 10 ill take Benn early ko. And to the poster who said he went all those rounds with Monzon.. DIfferent styles, Monzon was the way better fighter and more powerful in the mid to late rounds than Benn.. BUt in the early rounds not to many guys as dangerous as Benn. Early on he brought alot more than Monzon brought.
very tough pick but i favour benn by stoppage by the 6th latest as i assume we are talking about the young raw middleweight version of benn , after the mid rounds though i start to shift towards griffith by late round stoppage
Benn found Sanderline Williams tough enough. I can't see him stopping or winning a decision off Griffith outside a fluke KO which was one in a hundred for Emile. Benn wouldn't have been any better than Carter had he fought in the same era.
A business as usual points victory from Griffith...most thought that Bennie Briscoe would be too much for an aging Griffith when they fought..and that Dick Tiger was too big and strong...Benn would be soundly outpointed...and Griffith was the stronger of the two.
I think the Carter ko loss was a one of a kind fluke. Griffith wasn't a full fledged middleweight yet, and if they had rematched, Griffith would have decisioned Carter...the Griffith of the Tiger match would have whipped Carter.
Benn struggled with Sugarboy Malinga who boxed him, i cannot see Benn having much success against a technician like Griffith - Griffith KO9
