Nigel Benn vs Julian Jackson

Literally a pick em. Only sure thing is it wouldnt go past 5.

 

WTF ? Benn is both bigger and stopped the man who stopped the man.
benn was a big 160 who turned 168 , jackson a small 154 who weighed as low as 149 in his one before last fight.
Benn stops him.
small chance for jackson despite being the better p4p of the two.

Benn was much more well-rounded at 168. The customary (and thrilling) Nigel Benn routine of getting stunned and firing back with aplomb could spark the also vulnerable Jackson. But I'd say it more likely Jackson keeps Benn against the ropes long enough to render him unable to punch back. Jackson k.o 3.

 

always like your post's and usually agree ,i was watching some jackson fights last week and noticed if he was allowed he liked to box from distance and have a look at his opponent in the first round if possible my thinking is that benn would not allow this and so cant see this fight going past the 3rd either way ,but obviously i favour benn in a barn burner

I don't feel safe betting on this one. As with Jackson-Ayala, I see this one going either way.

 

I like Benn in this one as i feel that he has shown that he can fight more effectively when hurt. However with the power that jackson posseses anything can happen.

 

Would a Benn win really be an "upset"? They both were big punchers with vulnerable chins; either one has a legitimate shot.

Having said that, I always felt Jackson would've won this.

They basically just missed each other. Benn moved up to 168 right around the time Jackson moved up to 160.

 

At 160, Benn would most likely bring the fight. Jackson had decent boxing ability, and threw shorter punches. I think Jackson would beat Benn to the punch for most of the fight. I would pick Jackson by stoppage, but would not be surprised to see Benn smother enough abuse to make it the end and lose by decision.

 

As many have said, this fight is a real pick 'em, although Benn's greater size, wild physicality and aggressiveness would make him a favorite for many, but I have a feeling that Jackson, (who was a fairly good technical boxer who used nice combinations, accuracy and body work) would catch him with a counter when Benn is swinging wide and then Jackson would have him in serious trouble.

I mean, if a rather unnoteworthy journeyman like Anthony Logan could get in serious trouble with countering Benn's wide shots, (see video) then Jackson could certainly do the same.

On the other hand, Benn's powers of recovery are not to be underestimated...

they've both have been on the canvas.benn lands the first punch,a left jab,the only one thrown throughout the fight.from then on its the war that everybody predicts till jackson is counted out.

 

it really depends when this match is made and to a point, at what weight.

If they meet in the 80s, then I take Jackson inside three.

If they meet in the 90s, Benn's extra size and maturity leads to a late stoppage win, for the Dark Destroyer.
