Who wouldve taken this slugfest in 1990 ? Raw ,violent MW Dark Destroyer vs Kicks Like a Mule but maybe out of his ideal weight Hawk ?

I think Jackson's shots were far more efficient, accurate and timed; he had those long arms and that broad back to turn at the shoulder girdle whereas Benn's shots started from the feet and were wide, inaccurate and impatient.

Unless Benn storms out and catches Jackson first and powers him out of there, it's Julian's fight.

    This would be a shootout.

Whoever lands his big bombs first wins.

Jackson never fought well under pressure. When McClellan boxed with him Jackson had success however when Gerald started applying pressure, as with McCallum and Graham (for a while at least), he folded. That was Norris' mistake - he tried to outbox and fight Jackson backing up - bad move. You have to crowd a puncher to take away their leverage. (another bad example is Duran vs Hearns)

However Benn would get right in his face from the start. Maybe Jackson tags Benn a few times but an injured Nigel Benn was just as dangerous.

I'd pick Benn in a short war.

Btw check out my Nigel Benn video, see what you think:

Quality vid mate :goodWhat a fighter he was. The second knockdown in the Mclellan fight, looked all over then BANG straight back at him, amazing.

Pretty much how i see this fight too, Jackson didnt like pressure and thats what Benn was about at MW. By no means a foregone conclusion but i always rated Benn higher.

You know, I'm not real big on these fantasy matchups, but man, this one sounds like something else

Jackson had FAR better technique and accuracy, which would be the difference.

    Jackson in 4.

You reckon ? I think Benn was just as accurate, and faster, less gun shy and more dangerous when hurt.Naturally bigger too. I think the Benn who fought Barkley and Dewitt would knock Jackson out at MW.

    Love Jackson by the way.

There's no way Benn was more accurate.

Not saying that Benn had the technique of Mayorga or anything, but Julian was by far the short, more compact puncher of the two.

Check out the hook he KO'd Drayton with for example.

I love both fighters and it can go either way I think.

I think it would be a matter of who lands first, and I have to believe that would be Benn.

I voted Jackson but I don't feel confident about it..

I can see it playing out either way, I think a KO is almost for certain..

Someone made a good point about Jackson maybe not fighting well under pressure, and we know Benn brings pressure for sure..

I think Jackson has a slight edge in chin and power though..

I have seen Benn knocked cold by Watson, hurt by Dewitt and Eubank among others.

Benn was super tenacious though and if he didn't get clipped early I think he would win late, my guess is he does get clipped early by the Hawk..

    Jackson KO4..

Either way by KO, very hard to predict 2 punchers who could KO 1 another

Yes, but Benn had more quicker footwork, stronger, come forward pressure and more combinations

I had never seen Jackson before that video but one thing that seems odd is how light is punches look, well not light but they don't look like devastating KO punches yet they seem to do the job
