exactly, you have to earn the right to be mentioned alongside someone like nigel benn, and he hasn't ,yet. he may do in time, but he's got a way to go.
fair enough it was at 168, does that mean you have to completely disregard it from his career with this question. pavliks got potential, thats all at this stage.
we're talking prime for prime, and as far as i'm aware the first taylor fight was pavliks best performance to date.
How on earth do halfway intelligent posters on here claim that Pavlik was close to being KOd by Taylor based on Kelly giving Jermain free shots, then getting up after a 1 count? Jermain broke his nose and this did not phase Kelly one bit.....why do you people somehow turn to this as being an example of how easily Kelly can be put down? He clearly clowned Taylor and got caught....Its akin to saying Calzaghe would get raped by Benn because he's been dropped a few times. Utter nonsense
fair enough but it aint as stupid as saying pavliks achieved more than benn did at MW at this satge of his career . we are talking about nigel benn.
Benn took bombs off McClellan and survived, a guy who has infinitely more 1 punch power than Pavlik who wouldn't last long enough to wear out the legendary Benn. Benn's head movement is also under appreciated as he can slip those jabs and right hands, and if they land, so what? Nigel had a good chin, he'd no doubt get hurt and his wounded tiger instincts take over as Pavlik moves in for the kill. While doing so he get's KO'd and brutally. I'd like to see Pavlik in some bigger fights first before I can see this going any other way than Kelly flat on his back. Benn KO4
Benn by T/KO, Pavlik may hurt Benn, but Benn was at his most dangerous when when he was hurt, almost as if he needed to be hurt just to motivate and bring out the best in himself
You mean objective. And Benn would obliterate Pavlik. Pavlik does not hit as hard as McClellan and is FAR slower and easier to read than any of the big names Benn fought. Benn is faster, has FAR better head movement and lateral movement in general, better footwork and hits harder. Pavlik has a better reach and jab, but it does not matter, Benn would be on him in seconds and Pavlik likes to fight. Pavlik has been dropped by much smaller punchers and nearly KOd by Taylor, he gets savaged by Benn within 3 rounds.
