Point noted - but if you really believe that Collins was better than both Benn and Eubank you are crazy! Benn was shot to bits, whilst Eubank was very shopworn - and mentally never the same after Watson II.
When they were both gunshy following tragic fights. In the second Collins-Eubank fight, Collins is on ***** street, yet Eubanks is too hesitant to k.o him. I think it's in the.....sixth round???? Watch the whole fight again, you'll see. Pre-Watson Eubank and Pre-McCllellan Benn would've beaten Collins handily. This is the same Collins who was knocked sparko by Howard Eastman in sparring. Granite chin indeed. Collins was a very decent domestic fighter who happened to get a shot against a couple of World Class domestic fighters when they were past their prime. It would be no different to Ajose Alusagun beating Junior Witter and Hatton in two years time.
The biggest fault Eubank had was hugging the WBO title and refusing to travel to get big fights. Hence why Benn is generally rated higher. But the man's point is true - Eubank was never quite the same. I think he could KO people, but not badly - i.e. TKO's and one punch efforts, but not when a guy is like Frank Bruno was against Lennox Lewis in round 7. Benn just didn't give a ****, and just KO'd anything that moved until McClennan. After that I don't think he should have fought again, it was like watching Arturo Gatti, losing to fighters who barely should have shared the same ring with him.
