This isn't Duran vs a clueless Barkley, who blew his advantages in size and power as well as the psychological edge he might have employed of being the two time conqueror of the man who blew out Roberto Duran. No, this is a very different animal who would have continually come at Duran...relentlessly...until some serious incoming flak would eventually catch Duran and overwhelm him.

Duran late TKO. Anyone who was good technically and had a decent chin would beat the 160 Benn especially pre Watson.

yes, duran did show his great chin against hearns, and maybe pfp hearns was bigger puncher thanbenn but h2h benn simply hits harder than hearns at 160

I saw that you think Duran knocks out Nigel Benn--would you care to explain your prediction? I'd be very interested in reading your thought on this.

I actually think Benn would win. I just voted for Duran as a protest vote for you fishing around for a fighter you don't like resurrecting a 3 year old thread and then slamming him.

The mentally to actually do something like that boggles the mind.

Most people who don't like a fighter simply ignore him.

Overall my opinion is that Duran was a mid tier middleweight. Good enough to win a title but certainly not great.

I wouldn't call Benn a top tier middleweight.

I think people are still confusing early/mid 90s 168lbs veteran smart Benn with the fun, big swinging, take six punches to land one Benn of the late 80s. The Duran who beat Barkley is not losing to the Benn of the same time.

Benn's style plays right into Duran's hands. You can not outfight/overpower Duran. That is Duran's game. You may try to outhustle Duran like Bobby Sims tried (successfully according to the judges) and Hagler previously, but that is not Benn's style.

Actually, Barkley fought the best fight he could tactically. Using the jab and a consistent body attack.
