Benn comes out firing and has Valdez on the back foot. After seven rounds Benn is up by a round with both men showing the effects of the grueling battle. Valdez scores a hard knockdown along the ropes with a powerful left hook late in the eighth, finishing the job early in the nineth.

After 8 thrilling, brutal 50/50 rounds of give and take, Valdez hurts Benn in the 9th with a left-right and is all over Benn, putting him down hard..Benn gets up barely at 9 and Valdez finishes him off with a huge right hand.

This would be a Hagler-Hearns type war, Benn's speed of hand/foot would see him get off first and I see that as the difference in this fight, I'm not sure he could stop Valdez, but Benn's power, combinations and intensity may well do it, although I'm sure many will claim Vladez unstoppable. I doubt many people thought Benn would stop McClellan or Barkley either, Benn was the first to KO SIms to

I wouldn't be bragging about a ko win over Robbie Sims if I were you.Tough, but he was never anything special and had many losses by the time he fought Benn.Yet again,Benn(as well as McClellan does) gets overrated on these boards.Rocky was just a tougher man and would have ko'd Benn.By the way, where has anyone said that Rocky was unstoppable?

Simms was a faded fighter when he fought Benn.imo a good solid fighter though.

Its not really bragging, its the fact Benn stopped quite a few other men punchers could not and he was pretty devastating at best, Valdez gets far more overrated than Benn and McClellan on here

Styistically Benn could be outboxed/out countered, I don't think Valdez is the man to do this with his plodding style

He hardly needs to outbox Benn to win though.

This is the kind of fight Valdez is awfully hard to beat at, with his classy skills from the waist up.Similar fight to the Tonna bout i expect, only ending earlier in Valdez' favour and perhaps even more ferocious.

For Benn it will be close but no cigar. He would give Valdez all he could handle, though.

Valdez gets overrated on these boards? He's rarely, rarely mentioned whereas Benn and McClellan are constantly mentioned and rated higher than they deserve around here.

I second this. Benn was too chinny.

I certainly didn't. I could see no area where Benn was superior to McClellan, but Nigel proved me wrong!
Having said that, I still go with Valdez by ko late , though it would be a" rock em sock em" ,row while it lasted.
