it's hard for me to go against kalambay in this one. benn is firmly in my top 10 favourites but he's losing this one
Kalambay's slickness was legendary, but how much of Benn's punishment could he take? If it's 15 rounds, the Dark Destroyer lives up to his name. Sumbu didn't have the firepower to keep him off forever.
He kept Barkley off for 15 without much problems... He couldn't stop lesser fighters such as Watson and Eubank etc, no way is he stopping Kalambay short of a freakish occurence like the one against Nunn.
I wouldn't say Watson or Eubank were 'lesser' fighters than Kalambay. Watson and Eubank both overcame more adversity than Sumbu ever did, and both were strong, young light-heavyweights who could make middleweight. The fight comes down to Kalambay's power. Does he hit hard enough?
And Benn was only about 110mph faster than Iran in his feet and lead rights, and more ferocious to the body.
Only someone with a serious hard-on for these two (or at least for Eubank) would claim something like this.
When ever did he show a lack of it? You can hardly penalize him because his superior skill made sure he didn't have the wars Benn and Eubank had.
Agreed. And he came back after the Nunn loss well. He adjusted well against Graham the first time as well. Barkley barely touched him.
Are you serious?? Mike McCallum was better than anything Eubank or Watson ever beat or even fought except for McCallum himself for the latter of course.
