I have never seen this fight, how good was the fight? Was it really as close as they say it was, that Malinga only lost by half a point? can someone post a link to the fight, thanks.
Benn underestimated him big time, only trained four weeks. I thought Malinga won clearly. He was v.good in the early 90s, Malinga, much better than he was in the mid-90s. Basically Benn couldn't get past Malinga's left jab - that's the story of the 10 rounds. He ate a lot of jabs and some rights, one hard uppercut off the ropes split Benn's tongue/lip/gum at one point. Malinga did his usual thing of cusping his hands in front of his jaw, moonwalking and throwing long jabs, nice and compact. Benn was outworking him but not as explosive as usual, trying to jab with Malinga like he was wasn't wise. The British referee was the sole judge, and raised Benn's arm when many expected Sugarboy's to go up. Benn was then a big underdog going into the WBC shot over in Italy against a cagey operator. But trained properly and reverted back to being all-out aggressor... Benn at his sharpest like that would prob've overwhelmed any Malinga.
