Nigel Benn vs. Vito Antufermo

antuofermo by TKO. I think he survives the early onslaught ala hart and comes back to overwhelm an exhausted benn.

After a rugged 12 or 15 rounds,Benn would have his arm raised by the ref. Nigel would be too fast. Vito would be tough enough to last the distance,unless he gets cut too badly.

 

Benn would stop him on cuts but Vito would give him hell before that.

tough one to call this. To be honest im split between an early-mid rounds stoppage for benn on cuts and,if its 15rounds, a late stoppage for Vito through sheer exhaustion on benns part as i think he'll go hell-for-leather in the first half of the fight.

This might sound a bit daft but i think it depends on when they fight as in the late 70s early 80s a fighter got a bit more time with cuts as opposed to the early 90s.

One thing for sure is that it would be a tough fight and great for the punters to watch. A coin toss IMO.

 

Against a fellow come forward fighter I don't like many in history to get the better of Benn. This would be a war and a back and forth but Benns power, intensity, speed, combination and fast feet would get the better of Antufermo and really do some damage. I see him doing what few woud do and smashing that iron chin of Vitos

Benn has more than Antofermo in most departments. More speed. More power. More variety. More strength. More size. His chin is not as good. But Benns power would have more effect on Vito than Vito's power would on Benn. Stamina goes to Antuofermo, but Benns brutal punches would wear him down. Benn by stoppage

 

Vito fought some horrific punchers in his time and as good as Nigel was he wouldn't present anything that Antuofermo hasn't seen before. Benn was an enigma in that he survived punchers like Mcllellan etc, but was also rocked and in trouble by non punchers on a number of occasions. Vito survives some major bombs, and rallies to stop Benn late, unless of course their are cuts. The Mosquito takes it !

 

with the middleweight version of benn if he had not won by the end of the 7th it would of been vito forcing a stoppage ,but i feel benn would of stopped vito at some point before then (benn tko 5)
