Hard angry man, fuelled by the murder of his older brother. Not the best boxer in the world but feared nobody and would’ve fought absolutely anyone. Grew up watching him on ITV and was at London Arena the night he went to war with McClennan.
From back in the day when it was rare for even pro sportsmen to be interviewed via camera and people acted more like themselves
He was a monster, Forged by sheer, will, grit and circumstance. Benn Jnr can try and emaluate is father but it is an impossible feat for the kid. He was born in privalege and has chosen to become a prize fighter. His dad was a different kind of beast in an era full of beasts.
His dad had to fight on the streets - fighting racists as I recall - and had been through the army before his pro career. If he was no good he'd have been on the doors for a living. Benn also said after his first loss, the purse offers collapsed so he had to try and earn more and that spurred him on. Young Benn has none of these traits, none of the background and none of the humility.
I think he' was still involved in boxing for quite a while but I've not heard his name in a few years, he must be cracking on a bit now so maybe enjoying retirement.

I last saw him when the Grenfell fire occured on the telly, I think he had a relative that was caught up in the fire.
