mclellan was on the way up when he fought benn, who knows what he could have acheived . streets ahead is a bit much when talking about careers, one of them never fulfilled his
Based on their pro careers? well, McClennans was ended due to Benn and RJJ is still going, hardly a fair comparrison. The difference is, McClennan had the heart to fight Benn, Jones never did take Benn up on the offer, McClennan also made a name for himself as a great fighter in his very short pro career KO'ing an obscenely high %, this Irish guy, did he? the talent was there, the tools were there, it's just a tragic outcome, to dismiss him as ''nowhere near RJJ' is absurd, fine, like RJJ, but at least be realistic about it. Losing any fight doesn't really mean much, as great fighters lose, it's happened throughout history, but my point was, it highlighted Geralds talent that he was able to already beat RJJ and go on to what he accomplished in a short time, had it not been so tragic, we may all be talking about how brilliant McClennan was in the 90's, and how he never ducked anyone, something we can't say about RJJ.
Prime Jones would never have lost to Benn, he would have comprehensively beaten him imo. McClellan was vulnerable, because he struggled to make weight and had terrible stamina. He would have been beaten many times at 168 if he'd stayed there.
One of the best vids I've seen in awhile. Benn-Mc Clellan fight was a great fight but a very tragic one.
Wasn't that tragic. McClellan was a sick and sadistic character. If this sort of thing had to happen to anybody, I'm glad it was him.
LOL, you're clearly on a wind up, all the comments you have said are comical, aside from the disrespectful comment, maybe motivated by McClennan having beaten Rjj? Imagine if Jones got clocked by one of Benns hooks, Tarver would never have happened, Jones would have retired the moment he came too.
I'm not sure if a prime Jones really would've beaten a prime Benn or Eubank. IMHO it's not safe to say...
It's called be humble, especially as you see how close Benn and Eubank are now. Say's the guy that claimed McClennan was nowhere close in terms of ability to RJJ, nothing you say has credibility after that absurd statement.
His chin is why I'm not sure about Roy winning against Eubank or Benn. Man, they really were able to hit hard, especially Benn. You can't afford one single mistake against these guys or your'e done if your chin isn't rock solid.
Benn and Eubank aren't humble guys. If they say RJJ would beat them, then they believe it. Eubank still says now that he 'perfected boxing', but Jones was another step up.
The fact that they say Roy would've beaten them doesn't mean automatically that it would've happened. We'll never find out...
