Erik Morales: Is slated to defend against #2 rated Danny Garcia on January 28th. #1 ranked mandatory challenger Ajose Olusegun took to the microphone to make his own case. Mr. President, I want to say that I fought a final eliminator against Ali Chebah and won a unanimous decision. Two weeks later, Erik Morales, who is a legend, won the vacant title against a guy who wasnt even ranked in the top 15. Morales got that title shot after losing a title fight for another organization. I have paid my sanctioning fees, I have been waiting for my shot. Morales is a rich man, I am not! I need to feed my kids! The room erupted into applause in support of Oluseguns well versed plea. A motion was made, seconded and passed that Ajose Olusegun will met the winner of the January 28th fight.
Not really a result though is it? So many things could happen between now and then! Good luck to him though but that's the WBC for you.
Ajose should get some top-flight experience under his belt whilst he's waiting. Even Forbes of Corley, just to keep ticking over. Garcia just beat Holt, so he's as worthy a 'title' contender for Morales as there is, especially as Morales isn't even the champion of anything. Ajose is ranked highly and has been for a while, but he should use this opportunity to make himself better prepared when the time comes IMO. As long as he keeps winning the WBC will give him a shot.
I personally think Ali Chebah who Ajose beat to win the WBC final eliminator was a very good tough fighter who came to destroy Ajose unfortunately for him he met a real devil of a fighter in Ajose Olusegun himself who had the skills required to do the job. Garcia or Morales I don't care whoever holds the belt Ajose will take it of them. I have the highest respect for both Demarcus Corley and Steve Forbes but perhaps they have seen better days?
Good fights to keep busy and sharp with though. Forbes fights out of Liverpool now so would be easy to make.
