For a non great, if I had to pick an upset, I would put a paycheck down on Byrd to beat Louis the first go round.

    I have always thought that!
Here's another one: Ellis vs Holyfield. I await a chorus of "no chance", but Ellis had a good counter right and floored Bonavena; no easy task!

I understand that he was much smaller, but he had all of things that created problems for Ali. Head movement, a good counter jab, good work rate, and the ability to cut off the ring, the only thing missing that Ali that troubled Ali was a stellar left hook, not to say Qawi wasn't a good puncher.

outside of Louis & a perfect Tyson, Jersey Joe is one of the best HWs of all time, my fave and I'd pit him against ANY HWs in history barr some of the giants, to me they are a different division.

but Walcott all the way, a manager's star and money maker. What he could have made in modern times would have been a deserved compliment to him and true talent like him.

    Frankie Randall against DLH.

I thin frankie and his boxing 101 give Oscar all sorts of problems. And equally important, Randall held those hands up high. Real high. And for the whole fight. I sure don't think Oscar is a dedicated enough body puncher to get those hands to drop.

And I love the way Randall threw combos, especially against this opponent. The 1 and done telegraphers are going to have a tough time with DLH. But a guy that threw those quick combos like Randall will have success with those follow up shots. the first punch may not land, but watch out for that straight right and left hook. And Randall had that terrific balance to throw them.

I think it's a boxing clinic of sorts for Randall and he wins comfortably. Of course the biggest concern is a DLH scorecard & he's up there with Ali and Leonard as far as judges are concerned. So it could end up as split decision type thing like say the Duran--Kirkland Laing fight.

Jersey Joe on a given night would be a handful of trouble for the best but he was erratic

Duran would be a nightmare for Floyd

Jimmy Young could be a nightmare for many but far less power than JJW

Prince Naseem Hamed Vs Sandy Sadler @ FW.
Sadler dropped and out from a body shot he doesn't/can't see.....
Not that Naz is ATG at all really but would be a nightmare for someone like Sadler IMO with modern refs though.....

On that night and against Bumphus and Blocker I think he was a real force. Against mayweather, I don't know but he would not fear him and pressure him all the way. I don't think Lloyd would be happy to just take the money and play second fiddle, lets face it if he got £10m on Thursday, he'd still be skint at the weekend!!!

    Wlad K vs Prime Mike.

Possibly the worst match up for any fighter in the history of the sport
