Imagine this: WBC (rightly) dethrones Povetkin as the mandatory challenger, and then (wrongly) elevates Stiverne, who they currently have right below Povetkin at #2(!!!), to the mandatory position. Wilder then predictably beats Stiverne again, gets another year and a half or more of poor voluntary defenses until he finally has to face a genuine mandatory or does a unification bout. So, essentially, he could have 8 title defenses against sub top 10 hws before he has to face a genuine, undebatable top 10 hw. That would make a mockery of the title and the sport. I've defended Wilder in the past, and I still have some hope for him, but I really fear that happening at this stage.
Or, I have a better scenario. The WBC orders Wilder to face Povetkin. Wilder refuses and is stripped. I can only hope
I think this is pretty much where this is going. The WBC is complicit in this. Perhaps Povetkin did take the drug after it was banned, and perhaps he did not--it doesn't take months to figure that out. Really, what the hell are they "investigating" anyway? The fact is, they aren't going to let Povetkin or anyone else near Wilder because they like gravy trianing an African American "champion." There, I said it. Wilder is the minor league champion. We all know as much. And you are right, it is disgraceful.
Well....While the WBC gifted Arreola a title shot, maybe Fury will gift Wilder a shot and he will bite. Fury beats Wilder, and boom, problem solved. Or Wilder beats Fury and you have a complacent champ with all the belts for the next 6 years
I've heard WBC is considering to appoint Paulie Malignaggi as Wilder's mando but Jay Deas thinks it's too risky. He has eyes on Hekkie Budler.
The sad thing is I think the Arreola of 3 or 4 years ago would have had a great chance. It would have been a real interesting style matchup. A real aggressive, hard chinned, power punching guy like Arreola was could have tested Wilder in a way no one else has. If he had chin issues, Arreola would have found them. This Arreola is shot to pieces, though. I think Stiverne cracked his chin, he hasn't been the same since he got kd'd in their first bout, and all his other qualities have been progressively declining.
I'm not certain how shot he is, only natural his level dropped after Stiverne. Pulev had a very poor outing vs Arias after a much worse beating from Wlad but looked highly impressive vs Chisora. I think Chris will raise his game. This is a great opportunity for him. The Nightmare could well be that for Deonkey. :bbb
If the WBC makes Pov the mandatory DW will face him! Just like he was before Povs tests were dirty! I like how you guys conveniently forget that little bit of imfo!
funny but seems PED etkin was the one having nightmares I mean had o cheat just to get ready for the task ..the actions of a scared man yet Wilders nightmare yeah ok ..
Since Duhaupas has the WBC silver belt, and Haye is ranked #6, (#3 Pulev and #4 Parker are taking the IBF route) why don't Haye just go after Duhaupas and bring himself into the position to fight in a title eliminator vs Stiverne? :think
Huh? That doesn't relate at all to the topic of the thread. Geez, bother to read the thread before you make comments
