This guy looks pretty promising! Seems to have good skill, can obviously crack and has been doing really well in the amateur tournaments recently. I think it will be Jalolov and himself as the main ones in Paris shooting for Gold. Hopefully he goes pro afterward The Games.

It's been a while since Germany had a heavyweight hopeful. A country that loves their boxing, should he go pro, I'm sure he'll have alot of promotional support behind him.

Definitely looking forward to watching him in Paris this Summer. If he wins Gold at his current age and manages to defeat Jalolov… That will say A LOT.

You should check out Axel Schulz then. robbed in three straight title fights against George Foreman, Frans Botha, and Micheal Moorer.

Looks very talented. I think he's like 20 or 21 now so he's still only a baby

Reigning German Super Heavyweight Champion: Nikita Putilov

When he stands in the door it gets dark. With a height of 1.97 meters and a weight of 106 kg, Nikita Putilov from Leipzig is certainly a real super heavyweight. At just 19 years old, the Saxon boxing talent, who found his origins at the Boxring Atlas Leipzig eV, has already achieved many things that others can only dream of. In less than 40 fights, the scion of Russian immigrants has already won numerous title honors and has already made a name for himself - most recently internationally. If he is one, then it is one of the country's current biggest heavyweight hopes. But the aspiring professional firefighter only discovered boxing after being a competitive swimmer for seven years.

    Profile of Nikita Putilov

Place of birth : Leipzig, Germany

Place of residence : Leipzig/Frankfurt (Oder)

Boxing club : Boxring Atlas Leipzig eV / Olympic base Frankfurt Oder

Weight class : Super heavyweight (over 91 kg)

    Height : 1.97 m

    Age : 19 years

    Fight record : 37 fights, 31 wins, 6 losses

Greatest successes : Gold at the U19 European Championship, silver at the U22 European Championship, Gold Cologne Boxing World Cup, German Elite Champion 2021*

    Q&A with Nikita Putilov

How did you get into boxing?

When I was 14, I started boxing with Matthias Eichler in his gym on Eisenbahnstrasse in Leipzig. Back then, a friend took me with him because I wanted to start martial arts. I found boxing fun right from the start. After about two years I moved to the Atlas boxing ring and trainer Torsten Müller, where I developed further technically.

How would you describe your boxing style?

I'm the one who tries to box technically, but I also like to throw punches. Most of the time I wait for counterattack situations that I then try to exploit.

What boxing role models do you have?

Larry Holmes is my absolute role model. He hit a great lead hand - for me the best in the heavyweight division! When I think about current boxers, I don't really have a role model, even though I think Tyson Fury's boxing style is really cool.

What, in your opinion, has been the best fight of your career so far?

For me it is my last fight so far, i.e. the final fight at the Cologne Boxing World Cup against Nelvie Tiafack, in which I was able to win every round.

What was – in your opinion – the worst fight of your career so far?

There are always fights where you don't have a clear head and you don't box the way you should. I lost in the final of the U22 European Championships. I should have worked harder here, especially with such an important fight.

Are you planning to switch to the pros in the future? If yes: when?

I would still like to attend the Olympic Games in Paris and Los Angeles (2024 and 2028, editor's note) . If it works, I can imagine switching to the professionals afterwards.

What hobby do you enjoy outside of boxing?

When I'm at home in Leipzig, I play games on the computer every now and then. Otherwise, I like to be out with the boys, play darts or even go swimming. But I wouldn't call any of it a hobby.

When can your fans see you live next?

I probably won't box again this year. The German Championships are coming up, but I won't be taking part in them. Now it's time for strength and endurance training again.
