I could see Valuev winning in ugly, boring fight. That said, Braddock wasn't really small and he could punch so it's possible that he'd make Valuev more hesitant and lose a decision.

I guess we're talking about the Braddock that faced Louis, not the one who struggled off the ring and lost a lot of fights at LHW.

Sugar Valuev makes the ring a blender and drinks himself a Braddock smoothie.

Oh, got it. Yeah, that version of Braddock could defnitely beat Valuev although I'm not sure if he would. I'm not high on either of them.

Braddock was a 6'2 midget compared to 7'0 Valuev and wasn't a big puncher even against his own era's smaller opposition (36% ko wins). Valuev only has a 10 inch reach advantage and a pretty useful jab to go with it. Braddock has got very little to deter Valuev with and he lost to a slew of no names. Frankly if he goes the distance I'd be surprised.

    Valuev was very beatable.

He didn't shut smaller fighters down like the Klitschko's did

If you could box a bit, and move a bit, you had a chance against him.

Having said that, Braddock was beatable as well.

Valuev has a better resume, all the bodily advantages and isn’t much worse of a boxer this isn’t winnable at all for Braddock.

Yes, a slick, mobile, boxer with great evasive skills (a la Chris Byrd, for example) would give Valuev problems. However, the stiff, upright Braddock was pretty far from this discription - and hardly the type of opponent, who would worry Valuev too much. At least that's how I see it.

    I really don't see it.

Braddock's five best wins are far more impressive than Valuev's five best wins.

You didn't have to be a master boxer like Chris Byrd to outpoint Valuev.

It might be time for you to review a few of his fights.

Valuev couldn't get a convincing win over a still decent John Ruiz...

This board has gone mentally ill. We are seeing the return of the Sweet Sugar Valuev but without the irony.

We all made fun of this guy 10-15 years ago when he was active. Now his "size" and record has these children obsessed with "size" and records convinced he was a killer.

Valuev got a gift decision against a 46 year old punch drunk Holyfield. He couldn't land a glove on him and got beat to the punch.

    Dubious Valuev decisions:
    Larry Donald
    Ruiz 1
    Holyfield

Imagine if he wasn't a King fighter and had clear losses to these dudes on paper. Valuev's best win is against gate keeper Two Gunz on an HBO B show broadcast that was largely laughed at. Nobody took Valuev serious in his prime.

Braddock was the genuine HW Champion of the World. He was a LHW contender who challenged Loughran for the title. He overcame what should have been career ending injuries and poverty during the Great Depression to beat Tommy Farr, Max Baer, Lasky, and John Henry Lewis. One of these men is a legend...the other was a paper Champion.
