How did you score the fight which was called a robbery by the majority of observers?

sugar ray valuev by a point. The wide discrepency was the Valuev--Donald fight. I could not believe they were putting Valuev in with a spoiler type guy back then.

So I assume you don't think it was a robbery? Do you have the exact scorecard?

no robbery. Commander Vander did not do as much as Larry Donald.

Same old thing in boxing---when does the house fighter get screwed?

Holyfield 116-112 altough I had long lost my card from that cold night in 2008.

I have scored it several times from then but it s not quite a plasure to watch since it s not quite a eventful fight.
Very similar to the Russian Giant s fight with Haye who definetely studied this tape.

Dont see how Valuev legitimately won it.

I just watched the fight here's my scorecard @MaccaveliMacc

    1 Holyfield
    2 Holyfield
    3 Holyfield
    4 Holyfield
    5 Holyfield
    6 Valuev
    7 Valuev
    8 Valuev
    9 Holyfield
    10 Holyfield
    11 Holyfield
    12 Valuev

    116-112 Holyfield

Terrible decision there's no way in hell Valuev won this fight.

All Valuev did all night was follow Holyfield around the ring throwing an occasional soft jab that was constantly air.

Holyfield didn't do a whole lot either but he was the only one landing actual clean effective punches.

Holyfield would dart in occasionally landing some clean punches and then get out of there again.

Literally Holyfield would win these rounds by landing 2 or 3 more clean punches because Valuev didn't land anything of substance at all.

Terrible fight and I can see it maybe being a tad closer.

But there's no way Valuev won this fight.

Holyfield 117-111 at least. And keep in mind that Holyfield was 3-week replacement (instead of Golota) and was 46. Valuev was awful

He wasnt a 3 week replacement though.

They were throwing around different ideas.Golota was supposed to take the fight but i nthe ned didnt.Evander was always a option there. There were reports starting october he could take the fight.
It was offciial 4 weeks out.
It was somewhat short notice but not as you quite make it.

My recollection is that Holyfield deserved the decision, although Valuev landed the best punch of the fight (in the 9th I believe).
I always wanted to rewatch it so I can score it properly but this would be a chore given how boring the fight was ...
