I am hoping for it to come out by the end of 2015....it's been fun, just when I think I have a subject totally investigated, something interesting pops up. Yes, their will be some Alaska fight history. I once went to Anchorage to take in a fight card headlined by Ray Seales vs. Tony Gardner. Mike Quarry fought Al Banks and Joe "King" Roman had a go with Terry Daniels. Folks in Anchorage were great, enthusiastic fight fans.
Greg Haugen cut his teeth in toughman comps in Anchorage, also. A few others of lesser note also came from there. And ****ey fought in Anchorage around 86..
Gerry ****ey stopped Phillip Brown in 1984 in Anchorage. A couple of other televised fights from Anchorage were Alexis Arguello stopping Pat Jefferson in 1985 and George Foreman knock out over Frank Lux in 1988. Two Anchorage heavyweights had moderate success Michael Arms and Cody Koch. Koch was one of Wladimir Klitschko's early victims.
I had Koch in mind. He was killed under very mysterious circumstances later on. Anthony Ridges was a welter middle who came from Anchorage, also...
I remember Ridges...I was one of the judges in his 2nd pro fight a decision loss in Yakima, WA. Thanks for mentioning him.
